just bring in legislation that bans xmas until Dec 1st.
that would make a lot of people happy.
most people love xmas. but all this late sept start is really taking the mickey now! all it does is spoil the event!0 -
The problem I see here straight away is that a lot of people who are not religious 364 days/year, suddenly feel an urge to celebrate a religious festive day. Because they have no idea how to approach this urge (as they have no interest in religion & faith), they follow the sheep pack and do what everyone else is doing, shop. The sheep pack is led by a sheep dog (a retailing sector) which year after year puts huge effort into convincing you that the more you spend the happier/better/lovelier Xmas you'll have.
No wonder these people are all fed up and want to ban it.
Stop being a sheep and take control of your behaviour. Educate yourself and your family about the true meaning of Christmas.0 -

The difference was there wan't the hype that there is now and IIRC it didn't start until much closer to the day itself.
No houses bedecked with millions of lights, no decorations up mid-November.0 -
I don't have an interest in religion or faith (despite my parents making me attend Sunday School until I was in my teens) but when I was a child, many years ago, we still celebrated the 25th of December.

A whopping 51% of people would cancel Christmas and send Santa and his reindeer packing, according to a MoneySavingExpert.com poll which attracted over 20,000 votes.
Is this one of those scientific polls where the results are weighted according to participants to reflect the weighting of the country, or one of those self-selecting voodoo polls which generate pleasing headlines for the media but are totally unrepresentative and useless as a result?
Thought so.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
Well I love it. No one makes you spend loads on gifts, no one makes you decorate your house. Have the Christmas that you want and just enjoy having a few days off work.0

You sound very upset about a minor 'news' story. Are you the sort of person who gets angry and stamps his feet in an infantile rage when something is not defined exactly the way you want it to be?

It's just a poll run by MSE and the results reported on by MSE.0
