Solicitors stalling?

So.
The Mrs parents are buying our house off of us for investment purposes, there is no mortgage on our house so we are dealing with sale ourselves.
Money for the purchase of our house by the parents has come from the sale of two houses, one each in their own name.
Completion statements and bank statements showing the funds coming in to their respective accounts and then being transferred in 2nd December to us have been provided to our solicitors who are dealing with our onward purchase.
They've also been given a signed copy of the TR1 which we have an infinite amount of days to file.
They are now saying that they can't deal with our purchase until they have evidence that the SDLT has been paid (which technically has nothing to do with us as it's the parents responsibility) and that the TR1 is processed by land registry which could take 5 weeks.
Surely they don't need the extra info?? Surely I don't have to sell my house and wait 5 weeks before I buy another house just because I'm doing my own conveyancing?
Losing the will to live here and any advice would be gratefully received! Lost count of the amount of times the Mrs has broke down in tears.
The money is all there to pay over, just want to pay it over!
Rant over 😩

I should add that the Mrs parents, us and the person we are buying from are the only people in our chain so should be simple and straightforward0

Danmason - SDLT is invariably dealt with online now if being paid by a solicitor so presumably they are waiting for the parents' solicitor to provide that confirmation?
Once the SDLT is sorted the application should be registerable and if a sale of a registered property in England or Wales then it should be completed by us within 5/6 days on average. It may take a few days longer in some cases but not 5 weeks unless this is not a straightforward sale/purchase.
Normally with a 'chain' they are all linked as it is the funds which are the issue so if they all flow correctly the next steps, inc registration, then follow and are not reliant on each other. Is there something different in your case perhaps?“Official Company Representative

We're talking about your parents' solicitor here? Did they not deal with the conveyancing from the sale of your parent's properties?
If not, they may be considering whether there are any money laundering implications. Large amounts of money arriving in an account then being passed on to a connected person through a property purchase. Once the TR1 forms have been processed and SDLT paid then it is clear that the money has come from the sale of 2 properties."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -

Which solicitor, acting for who, on which transaction?
On your sale to your parents, the TR1 cannot be registered till SDLT is paid.
On your onward purchase, I don't understand the relavance of your sale to your parents. Other than normal money-laundering checks on the source of your funds.0
