Hi, I don't particularly understand mobile phones other than I want a cheap (£5 or £10 if possible) unlocked (because I want to go with giffgaff for £5 a month) phone. I have looked on a couple of websites but they all seem to be linked with a provider eg Tesco mobile, EE, something like that. Does what I want exist? And where can I get it? Thanks.

Couldn't find any at Asda, but I've just realised Tesco don't sell any unlocked. The cheapest I have found is the Alcatel OneTouch for £20 at the Carphone Warehouse. Is that the cheapest I'm likely to find? This is my first new phone for about 10 years, and second ever phone, so I'm not really up to date with these things

It's £4.99+£20 top-up, but you can use this £20 before going to giffgaff (why giffgaff?). Whatever SIM you buy it with, it's not locked, and after using £20 credit you can port the number to any other network if you wish.0 -
Nokia 105 about as basic as they come for £17.85 and will accept any SIM.
I realise Grumbler has posted the same thing and his is probably better, but if you're the kind of light user who might take a year to use the £20 credit that comes with it, then you might want to just buy this one for ease.0 -
There was one EE were offering a couple of weeks ago, costing £19.99, but free if you bought £20 top-up.
I can't say how good the phone is though...0 -
Check before buying. This should work with a giffgaff sim.

Alcatel onetouch 1013 £8, Nokia 108 £9.77, Alcatel onetouch 1016 £11.
All at ASDA. I presume Tesco will do the same.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
