Yorkshirelass I really get where you are coming from. I can only afford to spend £50 each on my children (although they are 22 & 23 now!) but it's been hard. For my dd I have got her a lovely pair of Pjs (in sale in M&S but still cost £25), a bottle of River Island perfum (smells v similar to Guchi Rush), a lush bath bomb that breaks into 5-8 separate baths, a bottle of fake bake that somehow I got free with a online purchase (can only assume was a mistake in the packing!) and I am making her a cowl. Seems like nothing

I have to keep myself from going out and buying a big present that I can't affordDF as at 30/12/16

Morning everyone
thank you Ally for starting us off
Fuel at Mr T here is 99.9p!! Getting some after work
I couldn't believe it when I drove in!! I didn't realize you could buy on £1land online either! Thank you for that
Jonno - Don't feel bad for treating yourself!! You deserve a treat now and then
Bob and Dawn - My husband is 28 and he STILL gets holes in his work trousers, I have no idea how they manager to do it!! Haha p.s. Bob your dinner sounds yummy
YorkshireLass and DNMS - We've not been able to get much for anyone this year as it's been rather spendy (married, honeymoon and moved) but I think it is the thought that counts
my mum and dad don't have much money and mum's had to cap it this year too but everything she's got has had a lot of thought go into it and it's spending time with family that counts not how much somethings costs
so don't feel bad
P.S. DNMS everytime I hear about your choccie spoons I drool a bit, they sound so nice!! haha
Another full day at work today but we close earlier on a Sat so finish at 6 rather than 8. Gave in yesterday and bought something at work (the lunch I had with me wasn't that nice) and then had a takeawat in the evening.
Hoping the day goes nice and quick, in a bit of a bad mood today me and hubby argued again this morning
I hate arguing so sent him a long text before I started work, just trying to resist phoning him or going to check my phone now
Anyway enough me me going on, here is today's list:
- B/D from stores
- Low spend lunch at work
- Try not to let silly things worry/stress me out
- FPL
- Lucky phone
- Survey/s
- Blog post
- Xmas cards (better get a hurry on with this one)
- Thank you notes (this too!!)
- Wrap Xmas presents
- Buy rest of Xmas presents
That's about it for today

Hi everyone :santa2:
Wow, the thread is busy this morning, which is lovely to see. :T
For Xmas me and OH are playing '5 for £50'. A few years ago we spent over £100 on each other so it was time to cut down (as we're just living off my wage now). Now it turns into a bit of competition as the one who gets closest to £50 wins and you must buy exactly 5 things.
(I won last year
) Would be a good competition for any amount tbh - 2 for 20, 10 for 10. Just turns it into a bit of a laugh.
OH was going to do an online meat order today - spending over £75 to get free delivery - until he realised we only have £80 in the budget left for December and his order was only for meat. Budget result.
We can do one next month and then we'll just need little top-up shops throughout the month and visits to cheap veg man at the market. It would probably be fine to do one now and have all the stuff in for Crimbo but it's just the point that we can't just spend whatever we fancy without thinking about where the money is coming from. It's the concious decision to say 'well there is only £80 in the food budget so I'll need to cancel all trips to the pub this month and buy food instead'. Then you realise you'd rather go to the pub and get some cheaper meals.
Anyway...enough of my drivel...- HM pastries for brekkie
- Supermarket trip with voucher in hand :A
- Washing on quick wash
- Buying cheapo bubble bath to fill up my posh hand soap dispenser

- Heating off - I will put a jumper on and the pooch has his fur coat

- OH is out working today :T
- Planning/day dreaming/visualising 2016

- Finishing niece's hat - thought I was finished and forgot about the hat's ears

And everyone...this is no joke... today I will be knitting a Christmas jumper for a taxidermy mouse!! :rotfl: The commissions us knitters take on! :rotfl:0 -

Morning folks!
Lots of very busy folks here this morning!
I had a good time at the party last night and spent a saintly £7 :A
I'm feeling perkier than I have for a fortnight and have already got a bit done in the house. Put a wash out, put another one on. Tidied round and emptied several things from the fridge. Did lots of washing up that resulted from fridge clean out.
Have now been on the phone to Vodafone and Natwest for half an hour. The saga of the phone and direct debit continues. Timeline as follows:- clf asks Vodafone if she can change contract
- Vodafone say yes and charge £20 to do so
- clf changes direct debit details with Vodafone. Is told that DD will come out of old account
- clf's contract is not changed.
- clf complains and asks for £20 to be refunded
- clf is informed that DD will come out of new account
- Vodafone raises bill for £46.50 (normal bill plus £20 on it)
- Bill sits and no DD is taken at expected time
- Bill suddenly changes to £26.50 - clf can only assume that complaint successful despite no comms from Vodafone
- clf's Vodafone app says that bill has been paid. No money has left any of clf's bank accounts
- clf rings Vodafone. They say that the bill was attempted to collect on the 7th and was declined (?!) and reattempted on the 11th successfully. Give me a payment reference and say they have the money. They confirm my bank details as the new account.
- No money has left clf's account
- Clf rings NatWest. There is no direct debit instruction on the account and no money has left it.
I mean where do I go from here?! I'm going to wait until the middle of next week to see if the money suddenly goes out. But then what? They say that they have the money! How can I pay them again?!
Right, I need to not think about these silly things. Here is today's list:- Windows open a tiny bit to air the house - done
- B/L from stores
- D out with in-laws. Not going to drink too much I hope. It's really difficult as s-i-l is a wine glass topper-upper. She does it subtly when you're not looking.
- Lots of housework: empty bins - done tidy round, clean bathrooms - done, hoover, clean kitchen, dust
- OH working this morning so can whizz round while he's out
- Make/wrap Christmas presents this afternoon. WRITE THE CARDS!
- Looked at a gift for my bro. Must order asap. - done. Also was inspired by something for OH.
- Feed Christmas cakes - done
- Decluttered a summer coat that is too big and very thin so always crumpled and a old glass bottle that I painted when I was about 14. The paint is coming off and it looks skanky. - done
Have a lovely day all

* Fixed hoover during the week. It had lost it's suction. Pair of knickers were bunging it up! OH had been hoovering behind the radiator it transpires.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

CLF - that's why I don't trust Vodafone or dd's .... I am with virgin and they allow you to make a payment towards your bill.
Each month I buy £15 top up from tesco (earning club card points) just before my bill is produced more than covers my £12.54 bill and give me credit in case I go over one month.
I get the benefit of a decent contract without the hastle of DD nightmares.....do Vodafone do something similar (you could say that you are going away and don't want a large bill)
Hope this helps
