My council would never empty my bin if i didn't put it out. Why did yours ?
Mine did the waste paper bin this week even though I had forgotten to put it at kerb, to say I was surprised is an understatement, though it is appreciated and I did call the council to say thank you.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
Deliverers clearly shouldn't do this sort of thing.
However, I believe the legal position is that the "customer hasn't got it until they've actually got it - ie personally". Guess that's why these "safe place" comments. But - if you've not specified a "safe place" or that was ignored - then you've not received it yet from the firm and it's still (technically) their property and you can ask for a re-delivery or refund of the item.
I've not had any problems when deliveries went astray - temporary glitches on their part that I had to resolve - but I eventually got either my item or a refund.0 -
This post has got to be a wind up right?? :rotfl:If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0

It's simple, the bin men and the delivery person are working as a team.0

Was it a Buy It Now item?0

Ive (only once) had a parcel left in the recycling bin - I was amazed at the sheer stupidity of this.0

I've asked parcel people to deliver parcels to a wheelie bin...
but then it was through a gate and round the back of the property where it can be left out of the rain.0 -
I'm always having parcels delivered an if I'm not in or struggling to reach it in time the couriers have never once left any in the bin, which they have to move to get to the cupboard that they have discovered on their own
I'm sure the couriers guilty of bingate crimes are trying to be helpful, but I have often wondered are the majority of the parcels that do get put in bins put in when the bins are in the street? This is pure stupidity because if they open it and it's still full then surely they know the parcel will end up at the tip, or if these bins are still in place on the property then surely it's safe to presume the bins not going to be emptied..... The days of bin men having the time to wheel someone's bin out have long gone.0 -
Similar thing happened to me on Thursday. Heard doorbell ring while I was putting clothes away in front bedroom. Looked out of window and saw Thrifty Rental van outside and reflection in the side window of someone in a dayglo jacket at my front door.
As I’m going downstairs to the door I hear a noise outside and by the time I open the door the van and driver have both disappeared up the road. No note through the letterbox about an attempted delivery but I notice the lid of our old recycling box is askew. Look inside and there is a parcel!
I was lucky I was at home and knew that some sort of delivery had been made (or at least attempted). If I hadn’t been home I wouldn’t have known there was anything there to be found as no delivery note had been left. (In fact don’t know when or if I would have found it as technically the recycling box he used is now redundant and I don’t know when I would next have looked in it).
Can’t complain to the delivery company about this as I don’t know who they were. Just a rental van.
