    Hi again,
Have done all of my list except for cleaning up Christmas Tree, which isn't urgent as it isn't being trimmed up until next week. Also made some bread, did a few surveys (only 50 points needed until Ipsos cash-in again), Co-op Energy replied to confirm that they will swap my goodwill gesture payment from an account credit to a bank account one. Christmas Cake seems to have turned out nice & is going to be cooling for a good few hours yet before I turn it out.
Off to fight cat for a space by the fire now, & sleeve WILL be finished tonight barring disaster.
    Have a nice evening all,
    f x
CLF - We will also be belt-tightening for similar reasons. Any extra savings can always be used to augment car fund if not needed, but with the public sector in its current funding-starved state, it is better to expect the worst......while still hoping to hang in for as long as possible. Those sort of letters are always worrying.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Meant to say earlier.....yesterday late afternoon, we walked past an indie shoe shop in the old trendy part of city centre & I spotted a pair of boots. Ohhhhhh, they were just gorgeous. It was true love. I swear my heart rate increased jyst looking at them. They were black suede with criss-cross lacing in silver eyelets, high but chunky heels & a slight platform sole. I was practically drooling on the shop window! The old me would have gone in, tried them on, pronounced them lifechanging & bought them on credit. The new model me took a deep breath & walked on. While trying to put the thought of these lovelies behind me, I remembered a pair of ankle boots at the back of my wardrobe. They're plum coloured leather, lined with lime green. They lace up with ribbons & have kitten heels and I honestly can't remember when I last wore them. I bought them on Oxford Street years ago while I was still very spendy. I am going to get them out & wear them - maybe for a party rhis week - & I bet it will feel like I've had something new. Can you tell that boots used to be a bit of a problem for me back when I was spendy, lol.....

  • Yay! :j:j I made it to the weekend and feel almost normal. I'm hoping that normal service will resume tomorrow after I get a good night's sleep tonight and dh does the football run. The headache hung on till lunchtime but I feel more like me again. Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts. I hate not being 'me'.
Foxgloves - thankyou for the sock pattern.:money: The needles and yarn arrived today, so as soon as I've finished knitting the Christmas decorations that the kids want I'm going to give them a go.
LaE - no rush on the planner at all :)

    Hi,

    Quick check-in.

    * Bought a card for Australian relative on Moonpig Australia. This is cheaper than buying it in the UK and sending it and it'll arrive in two days...and it's less likely to go missing.

    Hugs to all.
