Friday 11th December - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Good morning all.
Thanks CCl for the start, great to hear you sounding more like yourself this morning. Hope you have a good day.
Not a lot of MSE stuff for me today til Monday as my parents are taking me, my sis & our kids to Butlins for the weekend as their Christmas pressie to us all
Unfortunately DH won't be coming with us as he hasn't got spare holiday days for work, I think he's lucking forward to the Saturday and having a quiet day but I think that he'll miss us on Sunday!!
So small things that I am doing are....
:heart2:Checking banking/spreadsheets
:heart2: Taking a flask of coffee with us so no costalots on the motorway
:heart2: Taking a prepped spagbol/chicken curry/hm soup/casserole with us to save time & money whilst there
:heart2:Prep booked passes (saving £2) for a archery for the older 2 kids and my dad and a bunge trampoline session for ds2 who isn't old enough yet for the archery.
:heart2:Pakced soft drinks, chocolate & snacks so not to spend a fortune there.
That's all I can think of now! "See" you all in a few day :heart2::heart2::heart2:0 -

Morning Campers,
Late night (gig was fab) but feeling reasonably perky this morning, which is good as lots to do. Some bits are money saving:
*mf f is off today & has volunteered to do the grocery shopping. List made. Budget discussed.
*Have reminded him to ask farmers if their market stall will be there on 23rd or 24th. If so, will get all Christmas veg from them as great stuff at very low prices.
*Make Christmas cake. Not a money saving recipe but I will be using surplus ingredients for further baking & have frozen leftover candied peel pieces for next year's Chistmas cake & pudding.
*Clean house using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Bathroom curtains soaking in soda crystal solution......my go-to product for tough jobs....& always cheap to buy.
*Change bed linen & load it in WM for cheap overnight wash.
*Round up gifts, cards & other bits & bobs ready for visiting friends tomorrow or will have to expend 54 miles of petrol visiting again.
*Put up Christmas bunting. Hand made by me from gifted fabric & cheapo cotton tape from local market.
*Weed Christmas tree tub & water well in preparation for bringing it indoors. 5th year of doing this. Tree wonky but has loads of character.
*Knit more sleeve. Am 4 rows into fairisle panel which means 10 rows of sleeve left before I can finally start sewing it up & knitting the neckband.
Feel sure there'll be other stuff, but this is my main list.
Have a productive day, all. And do resist all attempts to part you from your pence.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Hi All
Love the wonky christmas tree foxgloves. To my DH despair I have utilised an artificial tree bough in Mr T sale a few years ago for £5 and I DO NOT CARE. No dropped stuff, no cost, no hassle watering it and carrying it in and or out and arguing about heat of house killing the tree. Win win for me.
Mr T delivery tomorrow £55 but if I went shopping I would spend so very much more so after lots of reviews and amendments and leaving it now as it is and going to settle to bed tonight and stay there until they deliver. No room in freezer for as much as an ice cube, so onjly fridge and cupboard stuff.
Next one is 21 Dec and that is £60, but as only 4 for lunch it is enough. I am so tired of shopping and over buying and over filling cupboards and yet no matter how hard I work at this, when faced with a shopping grocery aisle I go wild, positively berserk!
Am saving £200 today by not taking me and 3 staff to our area christmas lunch. Will share the saving with staff in the future! Can not bear the waste, none of us drink and it is over 25 miles away. Am overjoyed with this. A months grocery bill for 1 event.
Keep at ti everyone. I read the posts when at work as I have no internet at home AGAIN. BT have fixed it twice in last 3 weeks. Such good service-NOT.

Hi all,
oops began writing this at like 10am...
Thanks to ccl for starting us off. I'm glad you're on the mend
Hugs to jonno and anyone else who has the lurgy
Tonight is our work's Christmas do. There is very little free drink this year. I'm only going to take £10 as I don't want to spend much, plus I don't want to drink much!
Boss has sent round a slightly scary email in work. Our industry is suffering badly at the moment. I've said to OH that we have to tighten our belts after Christmas in case the worst happens
With that in mind, here is today's list:- B/L from stores - done
- D at Christmas party
- Cab sharing there, OH picking me up later - boss now giving us a lift

- Minimal gas/elec usage as both of us will be out all day
- Charge phone in work - done
- Nip to cs at lunch time with a bowl that I have decluttered - worked lunch
- Not buy anything while in town - worked lunch

Afternoon everyone
Thank you for starting us off CCL Glad you're starting to feel better
LegoMum - Hope you have a lovely time in Butlins
Sorry I didn't post yesterday it was my day off and was quite busy!! Had to take mum to the hospital for 9.15 for physio (she's been waiting for ages, it's to help manage her pain). Then we did a spot of Xmas shopping (dad has told her how much she is allowed so she's having to get her own presents!!) Had my eye lashed tinted for Xmas
Got a couple of bits with my o2 Priorities, did a MS, took mum home and then I went back home to make hubby's dinner (mum bought me lunch and dinner while we were out bless her
) Put up some Xmas chains (went into three different shops to get some, two were sold out!!) And today I have a lovely 11.5hr shift at work
although having said that if I didn't do the 11.5hr I would've only had one day off this week instead of two so it works out better for me
Enough of my rabbiting on, today's list is:
- Aim for NSD (except fuel)
- Be good and don't buy any more food while at work (I have a sandwich and some biscuits for lunch, all I could find haha, so will try not to buy anything else)
- Check for MS's
- FPL
- Lucky phone
- B/L/D from stores
- Survey/s
- Blog post
- Xmas cards
- Thank you notes
Think that is about it, don't really want to be doing too much when I get home haha.

Hey All
Glad to hear you are feeling better CCL and Jono. And what an amazing present LegoMum. I so agree with you taking your own coffee. Motorway prices are disgusting. I actually think the government should rule against it. Like airports as well. Why are these places allowed to do it???
Maria nice to hear from you. Your £5 tree does the job just fine I am sure. We bought a small living tree last year for about £10 and if has survived a year in the garden with one repot for size, & then we brought it back in last Sunday. Still needs decorating but has saved us money all the same.
Determined - I know exactly what you mean. People who work at a desk all day don't know how much energy goes into a day or night on the hoof. But ģreat for fitness ultimately.
Carrie - sorry to hear scary news about work. It's horrible when it is hanging over you.
Chocolate -hope the physio will have helped your mum.
Hello to Dawn & Foxgloves
Well. It's the weekend. Am ready for it too.
Today I have checked the banking
Checked my shopping app totals from scanning wombled reciepts
Walked my legs off
Planned a cheap evening meal
Updated my wombling total to include the £1 off pampers coupon I was sent. And the £2.50 nectar rewards.
Found 4p
Cleaned and tidied round generally
I'm planning an early night tonight so I will wake up refreshed on Saturday morning and enjoy a lie in
it's nice to relax in bed with a coffee rather than wake up feeling battered.
Still need to make a PAD today. Off to do so.
See you later
