  • Scamps, I had Christmas Day on my own once due to circumstances beyond anyone's control and to be fair it went quite well.

I made a sort of outline timetable beforehand, of things I liked to do and what I wanted to watch, this was just to give myself a structure to fall back on if I started to feel down.

In the event, it was great. I got up later than usual, took a long bath, built a nice fire in the fireplace, watched a film, cooked and ate lunch, watched another film, made some phone calls, played some PC games and so on. Didn't feel lonely at all.

I guess like anybody else I'd had my share of stressful Christmases, and to be honest the one spent alone was at least stress-free with no arguments or tensions.

I did make sure I had plenty of food treats in, I deliberately bought the kind of stuff that would have been exorbitant if bought for an entire family, but worked out fairly reasonable for just one.

    Hth.

I hope these suggestions aren't offensive :o it's not always the elderly who find themselves alone at Christmas

they seem to be everywhere except when you are actually trying to find them!!

Try the local small shops. Saw some in my PO the other day. Next to the Easter Egg display!

Try McColl, Spar, Londis, Co-op etc.

    £3.99 though !!!
