It is a well known fact that BMW drivers are exempt from traffic laws and have absolute priority over everyone else. OP doesn't have a leg to stand on.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Car in OHs lane on opposite side of box was moving forward and there was a space opening up behind it opposite OH.
But the space wasn't clear- it was opening up then stopped opening up.0 -
I'm no lawyer but I do know that the law is written differently to the highway code on this subject.
"...no person shall cause a vehicle to enter the box junction so that the vehicle has to stop within the box junction due to the presence of stationary vehicles.".
In other words, you didn't commit the offence because there wasn't a stationary vehicle at the time you entered the box junction.
Therefore a photo of you blocking the box junction isn't evidence of guilt.0 -
very few of the box junctions have CCTV on them. So you probably wont get a ticket.
I thought this was a well written rule but I recall reading that you must not change lane in a box junction which would block exit of another car. But googled now and can't find it. I have been cut up in a box junction before and took down the reg plate of the offending car for my appeal but never got a ticket to appeal. Perhaps it was automatically given to the car that changed lanes and blocked my exit.0 -

well there are several box junctions in London that spring to mind which have very lucrative traffic cameras on them, the one in High Holborn at junction with Southampton Row is a nice little money earner for Camden. The one at Shepherds Bush Green turns in a tidy revenue stream for Hammersmith, who also earn around £3m annually from the cameras on their box junction in Fulham Broadway. There are plenty of others. I would never count on box junctions not having traffic cameras, quite the reverse in London at least.0

I knew I made a sensible decision when I bought a BMW.0 -

How do these scumbag councils get away with this? If they're collecting that much money they are obviously not addressing the underlying problem. But then, why should they if they make money out of it. Lowlife bottom feeding gits - local councils everywhere.0 -

Back to the OPs situation - the car cutting across into the space that was his exit.
Came across this whilst searching : LinkToAdjudication Page 4 Paras 4&5.
"If the driver enters the box and there is already a clear space waiting to receive his vehicle when
he enters, but, for example, a vehicle cuts across him and stops, forcing him to stop, the
argument is that he could not be said to reasonably predicted this when he entered the junction,
and therefore a contravention would not have occurred.
In my view, a motorist being "cut up" is a fact oflife for London motorists, and a contravention
would have occurred. However, ifthe motorist stops because he has to break suddenly because
of a moving vehicle crossing his path, he is, of course, not in contravention in any event. This is
because he did not stop as a result of the presence of a vehicle that the stationary at the time. The
operative cause of his stopping was not a stationary vehicle and he would have a defence"
Apparently - in the opinion of this adjudicator at least, the OP would be guilty of the offence. I won't comment on my opinion of this adjudicator's opinion, there may be children reading ...0
