I was in my local GAME yesterday, pre-owned Star Wars Battlefront, £52.99.

Either its some sort of limited edition or you mis-read it.

    Its £44.99 new, and £42.99 pre-owned

    I have only ever pre-ordered 2 games:
GTA5 - I only paid £25 as there was offer with can't remember name of company now, but trade 2 games on their list, and I had Saints Row 3 and Assassins Creed 3 - I was happy with that.

Batman Arkham Knight - paid the full price and it was at my local Game store.

Thursday just gone I ordered Assassins Creed Syndicate new £25 on Game site.

I have Assassins Creed: Unity (starting later) and also Infamous Second Son to play, once finished those my next game is either:
    Saints Row 4
    The Amazing Spiderman 2
    LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
    The Order 1886
    Dying Light
    Mortal Kombat X
    Mad Max
    Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection
    Until Dawn

So a wide choice of games already out already, any new ones I want to play will just drop in price.
  • I highly recommend Dying Light, it's a brilliant game. There's a massive DLC to it just around the corner too - The Following.
  • Sainsbury's have a 'double up' promotion on nectar points usually just before Easter and Christmas. Go to customer services and ask to double up the maximum of £20 worth of nectar points into a voucher for entertainment department, et voila, you have a £40 voucher to spend on games leaving you to only pay the difference. Sadly you have missed this years promotions.

I brought a copy of 'Final Fantasy Type 0' via the PlayStation store over the Black Friday weekend as it was on sale for 50% off.

Same here, good deals to be had all over the place.

If buying a game digitally for the Xbox One I use one of the foreign stores which can be a bit of hassle but can be worth it for the discount particularly as the digital versions are handy as it means no having to move the disc between consoles.

We have a works classified ads thing on our intranet which is really good for second hand games - recently advertised was Destiny £10,

Quick one - DO NOT buy Destiny second hand. The disc is the year one game, but this has been replaced by all the latest content, and the old content has been largely disabled to anyone without the new content.
The new game comes not so much on the disc, but is downloaded and is unlocked with a code which comes in the box.

Bottom line is - Destiny second hand is actually worthless. People aren't realising this, are spending to buy it in places like CEX, then coming on the Destiny forums asking why doesn't my game work properly

Agreed - if wanting to play Destiny, the Taken King Legendary pack is the way to go which is now under £30. As you say the original game is pretty much worthless as the DLC is fairly pricey to buy digitally (compared to the legendary pack price) and there's little left to do in the game without Taken King with most of the older stuff being removed and the new stuff is unusable due to the 34 level cap for non-TTK owners.

  • This month's winner of cheap new games source is Gumtree. £10 for a brand new Uncharted ND Collection! Well pleased :-)
