Where do you get new(ish) titles from?

Apart from maybe 2-3 titles per year, I never buy PS4 games on/around release dates due to their hefty initial price tags. I tend to wait at least a couple of months for the price to drop down significantly on known retailing sites. E.g. Nathan Drake Collection is now £30 (initially 49.99)

I get all my new (not ish) titles from either thegamecollection dot com or Sainsburys.

Case in point. Star wars, £59.99 at GAME, £41.99 at Sainsburys.
  • True about Game. I find them to be very expensive (if not the most). Sainsbury's a good idea, shame they don't sell online.
  • I use both UK and international sites to get decent prices. There have been a few £20 pre-orders, like GTAV and Fallout 4, but I usually don't risk getting pre-order games.

I don't usually find it takes more than 6-12 months for games to hit £7-15, but there's the occasional exception (looking at you, Dying Light!). Amazon.com, Funstock Digital, GMG, Nuuvem - plenty of bargains to be had.

A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

Erm, Game weren't £60 for Star Wars, my local was only £45 although I have a suspicion that might have something to do with the local indie store being a 5 minute walk away. I'm probably jaded by having worked in games retail for so long, but I personally never buy from a supermarket because of their loss leading ways. (P's me off that my Gran pays more for Grand Theft Auto than most gamers ever will)

If it's a MAJOR release I'll often go to Game because I know they'll usually have something worth the extra couple of quid over the supermarkets. I don't touch the local indie as frankly they're the scum of the earth, well known for bending the rules & ripping people off as well as having no time for customers. In all honesty though I generally wait until it's more "reasonably" priced, which most of the time doesn't take long - 3-4 months and it's a good price preowned.

I was in my local GAME yesterday, pre-owned Star Wars Battlefront, £52.99.
  • Got to go to Sainsbury's mega store today to collect a couple of previously ordered Xmas gifts so will have a look at what's what in the gaming aisle. Nathan Drake Collection is a planned gift to myself this Christmas and £25 is a self-declared limit

I regularly get vouchers for Sainsbury's e.g. £8 off if you spend £40 - good for buying games. Got my PSN from there, so in effect only paid £30 (got some milk as well). I got Star Wars on PS4 pre-order from Amazon - went down by £2 before I got it for about £43 - only so I got it on release day, and their prices are usually fair. Other than that, haven't bought a new game on release since Fifa 14 2 years ago. The prices do seem to drop much quicker these days, and I don't mind waiting.
We have a works classified ads thing on our intranet which is really good for second hand games - recently advertised was Destiny £10, Fifa 16 £25, GTA V £20 etc. Our local Game closed down recently, so limited options. Have noticed Tesco seem to keep their prices higher for longer though.

they're having a giraffe, the local one in my town is selling it for £50 brand new - something sounds dodgy there by the way!
