Wood Burning Stove Heat Question

  • Melanie - Ours is exactly the same. Thick iron sides and takes a long time to kick out any real heat.

I don't have a radiator in that room at the moment so it gets pretty cold, and it takes at least an hour for the woodburner to start making a difference.

I have an old house, no insulation, leaky single glazed windows and high ceilings. For those that get heat quickly I expect the house is more modern and doesn't need to absorb all the latent heat before you start to feel it.

Yep, our house has little insulation and leaky (albeit) double glazed windows which doesn't help.

    Glad it's not just me!
