Cancelling Sky TV

I am thinking of cancelling Sky TV. Someone said we will still be able to watch TV because the box will still work with some functions removed (e.g. recording). Is it true? And should I return the Sky box?
Some advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks

yes, but the EPG will be all over the place channels 1 to 4 will be alright but the rest, if you keep your card in you will also get channel 5 (but not 5 HD).Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

the sky box is yours to do with as you please, as is the dish, that's why they charge you for repairs0

Hi glentoran99 and zaax, Many thanks for the advice.0

the sky box belongs to you but virgin boxes belong to the company.0

I think we've got everything covered here, except that as well as losing the ability to record, you will also lose the ability to watch what you have already recorded! It's recording AND playback you lose. You can pay Sky £10 per month to keep this, but by the time you've done this for a year or so, you could have bought a FreesatHD recorder (all the same connections) with more channels and fewer restrictions.0

However, if you take their line rental, they are likely to offer you free broadband and Sky+, if you don't take up offers of reduced price tv.0
