    Absolutely not. She has not legal liability whatsoever.

    The only person they could take to court is the person who signed the contract with them.

    Why would OP risk getting in to debt because of a contract the Aunt signed? If there is no money left in the estate then she/he would never recoup their losses, and why even bother going to the effort for an abusive mother and a stubborn Aunt?
