Posting to Barracks

As I was printing MyHermes postage, the message came up we currently cannot deliver to BFPO addresses, so I went onto RM website and got the postage printed (by the way, anybody else hates RM website, as its nowhere near a user friendly, or is it just me?).
Anyway, upon checking the post code, it comes up as Germany! So how does that work then? Thank you

It will just go in the normal post, you don't need to worry about this really, BFPO is treated the same as UK inland post to all intents and purposes.

You can't buy it via the RM website but you can get a price, you need to select the HM Forces option and go through as normal.

You buy the postage the Post Office. The parcel can't be more than 2kg and doesn't need an airmail sticker but you do need to address it correctly.

Thank you for your quick responses! I've imported address from eBay and it went through ok? No warning messages came up or anything like that

    Importing isn't an exact science.

The address needs to be as I quoted above:
    Service No Rank Name Unit/Regt
    Operation Name
    BPFO No

    Something like:
    234768676 Sgt KRDmum
    1 Regt MSE
    Operation Help
    BFPO 1234

You may not have his service number or even the Op name but the other bits will suffice.

Ok, it's official, I hate Royal Mail! Grrr. Post office people have just accused me of 'making the post code up', when it was actually provided by the buyer. They also told me that it has to go 1st class only, at £3.30. Considering MyHermes was going to cost me £2.60, I'm now also 60p out of pocket. Not much, but considering the item only cost £5, i can't really afford to do it every single time I have a buyer from BFPO address.

BFPO addresses don't have postal codes. If you were given the HA4 6DQ post code that is totally incorrect, that is the geographical post code for the sorting of Forces Mail, not the destination or the correct format for you to send to. Hermes cannot deliver to BFPO addresses as they can be almost anywhere in the world. What else do you expect? Why do you hate RM?

    BTW it's 70p more.

You see, I'm not having a good day at all lol! I had 70p for a start then scrapped it and changed it to 60 for some reason.

It's a BF1 postcode, which I'd checked on the list of BFPO and it is a true postcode. At the time of importing to MyHermes, I hadn't realised that it was Forces address, but can understand how they can't deliver.

Why I hate RM, well I don't know, just every time I use them, there is an issue of some sort, pretty much every second time I'm turned away from the post office 'oh, it's 2mm out, I can't take it, you're going have to re-pack', then I'll come back later in the day to a different person and they accept the same parcel without any problem. Every time I have a pre-paid label, they have a dig at me, RM also lost me a few parcels, one of which was mine and my DSs passports, so I had to go and take photographs and get them verified etc all over again...I can go on and on...

The BF1 post codes are the static codes for the forces Post Offices = they aren't addresses for you to send a parcel to. Perhaps that's what the Post Office here was trying to explain?

It isn't RM's fault if you turf up at the PO and they say the parcel is too big/ok the next time/dig at you because of a prepaid label - that is the Post Office and their staff, not Royal Mail.

As for lost mail, we all get that from time to time.

:rotfl: no I don't! It's nothing personal, just certain people or I shall I say a certain person at the post office, who always make some sort of remark like 'well, you better cough up' etc,
