This months challenge ends on the 31st for us. Just shopped, I've meal planned up until the 31st, I need some fish for a couple of meals, the fishmonger had packed up so I couldn't get any this evening. I might just need more milk and bread towards the end of next week. Hoping to come in at around £300. I will submit final numbers next week. Looking forward to then hopping over to February.

Last weekly shop done at Mr S tonight. Was hoping to use the n3ctar points on DH card but he had left it at work
My total now stands at £301.84 against a target of £250 and DH wants to buy some slimming world ready meals so that will be another £20. I have told him we are on a challenge to spend nothing else until pay day on Friday.
Tonight's spends did include a 70 wash box of p3rsil on offer and some YS pork and YS GF chicken pies which were not on the plan but a good deal. I had also forgot to add on £4 I spent on the way home late one night on a sandwich for DH tea.
Although I am well over I did set a low target to what I usually spend and I did come in much lower than if I hadn't set the low target if that makes sense. I am planning to increase the budget next month but still keep reducing are monthly spend by £35 or so.
Will pop over to the February thread to post my targetSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Nsd here. Meal plan for Feb has been looked back over and finalised using what's in the house and the last online shop for Jan has been booked.
Had £16.50 off a £60 shop using 3 vouchers too...and some good deals this week that have helped tweak the Feb meal plan! :T
Looks like we're going to be under for Jan come the 31st, and I'm excited that we'll be starting Feb with the bulk of what we need for the first 9 days too.
All the best for the weekend to everyone who has a Mon-Fri week.
We have a hectic Saturday coming up, but nothing but family time on Sunday.0 -

Evening all
Well, 5 days in a row we've cooked, hurrah !
Went off to the SM this evening to see what bargains there were to be had and then I'll sit down tomorrow and form a menu plan around that.
Managed to pickup some chicken tikka masala meals (2 x 10p), venison (2 x £1.29), fresh chives (10p) and a pound of haddock for 75p! This could make for an interesting menu plan!
That's the good news .. the bad news is if I'm to keep within the budget I have £14.81 to last us for the next 9 days, and I still need to get bread/eggs and fresh tomatoes for DD's foodtech lesson on Friday and finally food to keep my ma and DD fed whilst we're away for next weekend.
Right, any ideas what to do with the haddock ! So far, I've got as far as fishcakes, which isn't overly imaginative!
Sat - venison fajitas (does that even work ?!) If I wuss that ... it'll be venison stirfry (as suggested on the back of the packet!)
Sun - something with the haddock
Mon - Chicken tikka / rice
Tues -
Wed -
Thurs - Game casserole / mash
Fri -
Sat - homemade lasagne for DD/Ma.GC - March 2024 -0 -

Suggest you look on internet on allrecipes.com or myrecipes.com or just Google 'How to cook haddock ...'
One of my favourite ways to cook white fish is to put it in an loose 'envelope' of foil tightly closed, with white wine and some herbs and bake in the oven for about 40 mins. You must leave some room in the envelope for the steam to develop to cook the fish.
