Got some farmfoodsvouchers pushed through the door tonight highest value one is £12 off a£100 shop. Valid till end Feb I'm very tempted to use this as a challenge to run down the freezer and do a big shop then. Will be putting £20 a week away till then and see how much room I get in the freezer by then. We do mils shopping as well so it cold work quite well.

First shop in January today and a spend of £49.16 which I'm pleased with as I shouldn't have to top up at all. So £49.16 / £300 leaves £250.84 for the rest of the month. If I can keep the grocery bill below £300 I will be really pleased :)

Evening :) Tiny spend to report today - 30p on a fizzy drink I really should have avoided but the need for sugar kicked in. It's one of the downsides to that mid-afternoon slump. When my organisation kicks in again I'll make some healthy flapjack-type thing to help, but for now ... I'm just going with it. The leftover minestrone soup was lovely for lunch and I'll definitely be making it again. It was lovely to have a nice warm lunch. I defrosted a bag of bolognese sauce for tea with some pasta, so I cooked some extra pasta and stole a spoonful of sauce to go with it. That should be lunch for me again tomorrow, and hopefully an NSD!

I'll update my sig now. It's lovely to be back doing this - I may actually stick to it this time.

Finally did some shopping, lots of YS bargains (reduced by 90%).

£5.35 on: 2 packets of pasta, 2 tins of custard, parsnips (YS), 3 apple & grape snack packs (YS), new potatoes in butter (YS), 360g prawns (YS), 4 pints of milk.

£4.98 on: 4 cream cakes (YS), ciabatta loaf (YS), 4 cheese scones (YS), 2 strawberry cupcakes (YS), a victoria sponge cake (YS), 4 blueberry bagels (YS), 8 litres Pepsi max. YS bits only cost 98p altogether! The Pepsi definitely bumped the price up...

    So adding £10.33 to total.

Also £1.20 on cat food which is only enough to last him 2 meals but we'd run out so I was desperate. Going to Pets at Home to stock up on his normal food tomorrow!

How did you make the minestrone? I've got a huge bag of pasta rings that need using.

Has anyone tried making their own spaghetti rings in tomato sauce as they are that type of dried pasta?

Doing well so far this week, spent £2.17 in A**a on 2nd, got mushrooms, onions and mozarella to finish off our pasta tea. Spent £25.45 in A**i on 3rd doing a small top up shop - bread, milk, cheese, breakfast items, fruit and veg, yogurts and snack bits for the kids, some reduced christmas items for the freezer.
I bought their own brand toastie load rather than Mr Warbs to see what the quality is like as it was less than half the price. I'm quite impressed.
Will see what hubby makes of it tomorrow, he should of tried it today as I purposefully got ham out of the freezer for his sandwich today but as it wasn't in the usual packet he didn't see it. We also had a full block of cheese in the fridge and 2 sausage rolls so no excuse really for not making his own pack up. Thankfully he had some spare change in his pocket so has not made a dent in the grocery budget by buying his lunch at work.

For those that use a spreadsheet to keep track of spends, I'd love to know how you do it?
Have had 2 NSD's the last 2 days and hopefully will have another one tomorrow, although DH needs sugar for his coffee's! Will try and make him wait till Thursday:)

    Evening all :)

Well, a first for this year ... a NSD for me :):):)

First day back at work since New Year and whilst I had no inclination to cook (although full fridge/freezer) I managed to force myself to actually do it .... pork loins coated in dijon mustard, new potatoes, carrots and broccoli spears ... #boom :)

I'm thinking cottage pie for dinner tomorrow ... as I have already made the base, just to need to make the mash. Although I do hate peeling spuds, so will need to bribe myself !!

I could even use my HM butter ... Right, that's a plan. Cottage pie it is ...
