Extraenergy - Advice please
Hi all,
After having meter reading/billing issues with Extraenergy for the whole year, we arrange to change supplier asap.
We advised them early September that we would be moving companies as soon as we could (1st October). We put everything in place and arranged a new supplier (First Utility). Anyway, readings were supplied, but Ee said tat meter had to have an official reading before they would terminate, so we officially transferred on 5th November.
We thought we should still have a small bill outstanding to Ee, but cancelled the DD upon confirmation that the new company had taken over the contract (so they had about a week where they COULD have claimed any outstanding debt). However, we heard nothing after a week, so contacted them to request the final bill so we could get it settled. They said we had breached the contract by cancelling the DD. DH informed them that the bulk of the bill had been paid and that the amount outstanding would be less than our monthly DD, and should they send him the final bill he would settle it immediately. They said they would get back to us.
So a month later, and we get an email saying we have a new bill :T - so we log on to the online account and TBH we have no idea what they are doing..... they have cancelled ALL our bills (so the account has a large credit balance) they have then issued a new bill up to August, leaving a small credit balance, THEN, they have cancelled that bill leaving huge credit balance again????
Surely they have now had plenty of time to sort the final bill out?, I am getting concerned that they are going to try and land us with a massive bill that due to all this palaver we will struggle to unravel.
Is there any protocol detailing how long they have after transferring to issue a final bill?
Could we give them 7 days to issue the final bill, or to refund the balance on the account? and if we did would it stand up?
Any other suggestions with what they are doing? or how we can get them to sort this out immediately?
Thanks
