Prices of Drinks in Hotels

Mods, please delete this if you think inappropriate.
We have just got back from an overnight stay in a hotel that is part of a well known hotel group. (I don't think it is appropriate, at this point, to state the hotel or group but I will say that we were nowhere near London.) We paid a fabulous price for it as it was a Travelzoo special offer and have no complaints, overall, at what we have spent.
What I do want to ask what is the most people have paid for a glass of wine/round of drinks whilst staying in hotels. A (standard) glass of wine at this hotel was £6.25, which we thought was outrageous. (2 glasses of wine & 2 pints of lager cost £19.) I am aware that prices of drinks in hotels are a lot more than we could expect to pay in our local pub but would you say that what we paid is an average price? Make me feel better and tell me you have paid more!!
Kind regards
Mardrew

See no reason not to name the hotel as you're giving factual information.
I haven't paid as much as you quoted but my favourite trick was in a hotel near Heathrow a few years ago. Went to the bar, ordered a pint of lager for me and a half for my wife. I was charged £3.20 for the pint and £2.40 for the half.
She was on pints the rest of the evening!!!Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
Once went to a do at the Celtic Manor nr Newport and was charged £4.50 for a standard glass of wine.....needless to say it was rather a sober affair!
Pesonally I don't see why drinks are so expensive at these places apart from the fact that the owners are being greedy.2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.

The problem is that lots of people who use these hotels are either on expenses or have more money than sense, our local Italian charges £6.25 for a large Pinot Grigio (250ml) a bottle is less than £18 so it's a no brainer for me.0

another thing that only hotels seem to do is that when ordering spirits, if you order a double they charge you full price for both shots, and then a seperate price for your mixer. at my B&SILs wedding in february i paid £6 for a double malibu and coke  i stuck to soft drinks and the complimentary wine after that!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

It was the Devere Mottram Hall in Cheshire. (4* hotel)
The thing is, if the drink prices had been more reasonable they would have got more money out of us.0 -
My friend and I paid $18 for two small glasses of Baileys when in NY, needless to say it lasted us a long time !!ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

Most hotels WILL charge over the odds for drinks, to them it a captive market so can charge what they like. London is bad so I do not think they were "ripping you off as such" just charging what the market will stand.
I holiday in Tenerife and find that the hoel bar is up to a euro dearer per drink than in the local bars, and as for the mini bar I head for the local supermarket and stock up from there0 -
My daughter works behind the bar at a 4* hotel. She tells me the prices and I really can't believe it. She says the most expensive whisky is £13 a shot
As others have said though, most are on expenses so don't care about the price.

Its simple really, they dont make much on the rooms, so make it up on "Extras"0

Stayed in London this weekend for the Rugby, we stayed at a well known brand of Hotel on the South side near Tower Bridge. A G and T was ordered by me...... £6.00 for the Gin and another £2.50 for the Tonic, needless to say I didn't have another, just a Boddingtons at a whopping £3.84.....
Great weekend though!!MARCHING ON TOGETHER0
