I could avise of a better deal but it is a "BIT" Dodgy.

Lets just say someone I know who's mate lived next door to him got another mate (who fitted sky systems) to fit a dish & cabling to his house. He then fitted extra cabling from his house into his neighbours(friends) house next door. He then signed up for SKY HD & Sky Multiroom (about £70/month) and (Yip you guesed it) had the second box installed in his friends house so he only pays £35/month for full sky service & HD and his mate pays the other £35. You'd really need to know your neighbour well though to do this and know the sky installer would probably help too!!

Nothing illegal there, I was thinking about doing that but I dont even have a spare £35 per month for SkyHD crap etc etc.

Yeah right, nothing illegal, it's called FRAUD. Not only is it illegal but connecting two properties electrically with phone and satellite cables will cause major problems if they're on different electrical phases.
  • Can you cancel sky any time? I am just over 6 months in to the contract, wonder could I ring up and bluff a cancel to get sky+ <:devilish thought:>

Its not FRAUD, after all if companies can get away with Fraud that means we can too. And you do know that you can have the signal cable and the card and that is it, you dont have to plug it into the phone line so it can call 0845 numbers costing more money.

    Definition of FRAUD
    1. A deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain.
    2. A piece of trickery; a trick.
      1. One that defrauds; a cheat.
      2. One who assumes a false pose; an impostor.

    Taken from http://www.answers.com/fraud&r=67

    You will not impostoring anyone
You will not be assumes a false pose
    its not a unfair gain
it is not a unlawful gain

So from the definition you and next door will NOT be doing any FRAUD.

What if the person next door is a family member
What if the person next door gives you his/her box and you have it in your house and have a Infred link and SCART/HDMI cable running into next door.

Neither is illegal under the definition of FRAUD.

I am not going to argue semantics whether breaking the conditions of the mutiroom contract is fraud or theft (give Sky a ring and ask them!).
It wouldn't work for long in any case. Sky DO monitor/enforce the multiroom contracts by getting both boxes to phone home regularly and checking the phone numbers they are dialling from are the same. I believe from other's experiences that they first send a warning letter telling you to reconnect both boxes to the phone-line immediately and if that doesn't produce results they simply charge you two subscriptions.

    No it doesnt.
if a company does something wrong its not ok for us to do something wrong...

    I would say unlawful gain.

You are trying to get a service from sky cheaper by defrauding them.

    Breaking their T&C

Im sure again you would be breaking their T&C's

If sky where to take you to court would you produce something from answers.com as an argument?
  • Am not getting into the point scoring with users like you, that dont understand that Sky themselfs are defrauding you by getting the boxes calling 0845 numbers and skyOne and skytwo with ads even thou you pay to have access to those sky channels hence they should not have any ads.
  • Am not getting into the point scoring with users like you

What do mean user like you? Your where trying to say it was acceptable to get sky by using fraudelent means by breaking their T&C...
That dont understand that Sky themselfs are defrauding you by getting the boxes calling 0845 numbers

I have sky+, its connected up to the phone line , my phone line is just used for broadband, my BT bills every quarter will just contain the essentails and no actual phone costs ), i have never seen any calls on it...

And even if was phoning 0845 numbers sky are not defauding you because AGAIN it would be stated in the T&C of their contract.....

skyOne and skytwo with ads even thou you pay to have access to those sky channels hence they should not have any ads.

You pay for a service to use. For a plc they have to increase revenue/profit for shareholders. They can increase monthly costs but they may loose customers (fine balance between charging more and losing customers) so advertisement is a way to increase money...
  • Was with Sky until May when I moved home and after eventually getting a BT phone line installed a cpl of weeks ago I gave sky a call on Tuesday and they told me I could have sky+ for £49 and free installation,so I called them back on Thursday and they offered me standard box and £30 installation!,I explained that I had been offered the sky+ deal a couple of days before and the guy told me that they havent had that offer on from the 1st July!!! and he said that he couldnt help me,so I hung up,rang back in 2 minutes time got through to a different person and they gave me the sky+ deal with no problems at all....also told me that I had £18 credit in my account from the last time:rotfl: :T so get it this Tuesday :j
  • Has anyone else had any luck with this recently? My sky dish fell off the wall and I thought since I'd be charged £65 call out I could get Sky+ and let them worry about fixing the dish

What brand of box are they giving out? I hear Pace pvr3 is the best (i read this, don't really have a clue what I'm on about though!)

    Thanks for your help!
