Unused Pay As You Go Mobile Phone Credit

Hi guys,

I have a couple of SIM cards from back in the day that still have over £100 phone credit on them each.

Is there a way to get this credit transferred to £ again somehow so I can use it?

Many thanks,

C :j

Are you sure they are still active?

Some networks cut you off without X months of chargeable use

Usually the numbers are recycled after 3-6 months of non use, so your chance of recovery are virtually nil. Test the SIM's and see.
But how do you manage to amass so much unused credit on a PAYG SIM?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Yes, still active. I just called my landline to check (they call in and out)

(as above) - both work fine.

I used to top up regularly when I visited the post office etc (was paranoid one day it might run out when I'd most need it - I know, a bit silly)

  • I've been looking around about this recently too.

You can use the credit to pay the congestion charge if you're in London. Maybe some car parks (though some just use a phone app which links to your bank, so that's no help).

There are a couple of online sites that will give you back 60% - 67% of the value as cash. Maybe you could get more by just selling the SIM on ebay.

You can donate to charity - children in heed are still accepting donations by SMS, and there are various others.

There are some betting sites that let you deposit via mobile credit - could perhaps bet on a sure thing and then retrieve your stake as cash.

(I haven't tried any of these... just been looking around.)

    Thanks for the info.

Did you come across and sites that look genuine?
