Debt Letter From Vodafone Over Old Contract Error!?

I've seen the problem i'm having posted on here before so hoped that I could get some help with this.

My contract with Vodafone was due to expire in August, I gave my 30 days notice over the phone in July. Since then i had noticed the account was still active.I called them to tell them and they told me they could see on the system i had given notice but there had been an error and it would be sorted with their apologies.

Around a month ago i received a letter from them saying my account would be frozen if i didn't pay my outstanding, I called AGAIN and was told the same thing that it was an error and they would get it sorted, i was then passed on to a different department who told me just to ignore the letter.

Then last week i received a letter from a debt collection company saying i owed £78. Spoke to Vodafone on live chat this time in order to have written evidence. They told me the same thing again and that it would be sorted and i would not have any outstanding, with the account being closed as of midnight that night,i followed this up with a phone call the next day and was told a similar thing.

I then spoke to the debt collection company who hadn't heard anything of the sort from them and if i didn't pay by the 16th of December will have a default on the account.

What can i do? Should i just pay it and try and recover the money later? I literally don't know what more i can do with Vodafone to get it sorted.

  • Does anybody know a complaints address for Vodafone. Their website is down so can't find anything online.

See the Vodafone Complaints thread. My (latest) issue with them is that having cancelled one contract (and the sim is now inactive as it should be) they are billing me afterwards as if it wasn't cancelled. Oh - plus it's been impossible to log onto my Vodafone account this week, which is another regular issue.
