Vodafone Refund NIGHTMARE

Ordered a PAYG phone from Vodafone, they said it would arrive in 2-4 days. It subsequently did not arrive and I rang up to cancel the order as it was simpler to order from Amazon prime and get it guaranteed the next day (which it did).

Now, one would think they would automatically refund the £135 I paid for the phone but no, that would be too easy.

After repetitive phone calls, going in circles with their 'customer care' team I still have no refund.

For reference,

Oct 7th: phone ordered

Oct 14th: order cancelled

Oct 21st: Rang customer care - "refund should be in your account within 7 days"

Oct 28th: Rang customer care - "refund should be in your account within 7 days"

Nov 13th: Rang customer care - "refund should be in your account within 7 days"

Nov: 27th Rang customer care - "refund should be in your account within 7 days"

Dec 8th: Rang customer care - asked to speak to supervisor - put on hold for an hour and a half, I eventually hung up because I think I've just been mugged off.

HELP! They owe me money, surely this is illegal??

Can you go into a Vodaphone shop and ask them to help. If you are lucky enough to get the right assistant at a quiet time they might be able to get through to somebody more senior for you to speak to.

Next step would be to send by recorded delivery a Letter Before Action or, if you paid by a Visa debit card or credit card, instigate a chargeback.

In this circumstance I'd ring them, tell them how long you've been waiting and insist a supervisor calls you back. Get the call takers name and dept.
  • Could always try posting in the mobile threads on this forum, there's a Vodafone rep on there and they like to keep things "looking good" on a public forum
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere
  • Thanks for the help guys,

going to head into town tomorrow to speak to someone in person, can't deal with the hold times when trying to get through to someone in the right department on the phone.

Will let you know the result, all this experience has taught me is to avoid Vodafone like the plague and encourage anyone and everyone I know to do the same!

I had a similar issue with Vodafone, numerous emails, phone calls and Twitter. Each time it was like starting from scratch. They couldn't even find the email reference numbers on the receipts they sent me.
    Shocking service.

In fairness, they must be busy at this time of year.

And???? My query was raised on November 9th. Got a reply last week with the standard 'supply further details' to buy time.
My bank sorted it in the end. No excuses, Christmas does not come as a surprise.
