Has Sky gone bad?

I've just spend 1/2 hour cancelling Sky+ which I cancelled last June. I was put though to 5 difference people; left hanging on for 20 minutes either music or a dead line. The last person was the worst - Derek the final person - left hanging on for 5 minutes to finally cancel it (which I don't think has been done, as no email).
Part of my work is call centre type work, and I never put someone on hold for 5 minutes. If its going to take time to sort out, I phone them back.
Just shoddy work by Sky

They have very little incentive to make it easy for you to cancel. But normally you will be put through PDQ to retentions, who are always available. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I managed to cancel a couple of weeks ago and it took less than 4 minutes! Better still, I had used one of their 0800 numbers!
The nonsense with putting you on hold is simply in the hope you get fed up and hang up before they return from "consulting their manager."Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
They offer good customer service as long as you are paying their expensive prices.0

...so presumably you rejoined after June because you were offered some sort of retention deal ?? If so, are you sure you aren't in a time limited contract ie 12 months ??0 -

That's the problem I didn't, they just added it to my phone bill and I wouldn't have caught it unless I checked.
They only offered 33% in June when I had 50%, so bye-bye sky TV. I haven't regretted as there are over a million channels in the net, mostly traffic cams which http://11foot8.com/ is one of the best.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -

Yes I found that with sky. Try to downgrade something and its impossible. Threaten to cancel and theres always someone there.
Annoys me when I speak to sky. I agree it takes ages. The other person always seems to take ages and talk crap.
Trying to change packages is a nightmare. They seem to want to go through the ins and outs of a cats !!!! before they do it.0 -
And it's taken you 6 months to realise you have been paying for something you thought was cancelled?
Did you not bother to check your bill?
No, sky+ was add to the phone bill this month after 5 months after cancelling sky+ and their entertainment plus package, and going down the just phone and broadband.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0
