So glad my d.d. and d.s are too old for this. The idea that he gets up to mischief is creepy, a smaller all be it cuter version of Chucky! Just don't say Elf three times or you'll regret it!
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

My daughter is upset this year as she keeps asking why santa hasn't sent her an elf! It does look fun but I certainly haven't got the time, effort or patience to be making a mess with the elf and then cleaning it up afterwards. There's pictures on facebook of friends who have thrown flour all over their kitchens and then put the elf next to the bag etc, I have enough to do without having to clean up unnecessary mess :-o Also they are quite expensive for a tiny piece of rag and plastic, you can actually buy the elf direct from china for about £2 so the actual set is a rip off at £25-£30!!

It's not really a traditions. It's a mass marketing campaign disguised as a tradition like so many things to do with Christmas now. John Lewis have only been making those vomit inducing Christmas adverts for a couple of years but now they're seen as a tradition. Same with Christmas jumpers they've only come back into fashion (I say fashion lightly). Although I have to say I do like my jumper with the sequin snowmen on it and will be donating to Cash 4 Kids on Friday.
