I wonder whether anybody can advise or tell me the answer to this please.....
i am female - have bought a new car on finance from a main dealer....brand new. I am to collect my new car on wednesday.
Over the phone today i sorted out my insurance for the new car and this evening found my insurance policy online.
This is a brand new car 65 plate....however, it says....year of manufacture 2012. Obviously cannot ring my insurance company at this hour to find out whether this is a mistake. Certainly they never asked me for the year of manufacture and i wonder whether they can automatically log into the manufacture date with the new reg number.
If i am buying and paying for a brand new car surely the date of manufacture should be 2015. I am worried they have sold me old stock.....
Can anybody give me any info......i am female...went alone to buy the car and the salesman knew i was out of my depth and very nervous about it all....I amalso not sure how new cars work....are they manufactured years in advance as it seems odd to ahve a car sitting for 4 years waiting to be sold.....
I need to sort this out urgently by the morning......any advice please.....thank you.
my last car was bought brand new and was an 03 plate and the year of manufacture was 03

could have been sat in a field, could be pre-reg, could be a mistake, only the dealer can answer.0

Might be model year, what car is it?0

Anyway, even brand new cars built this morning can be made up of parts that are months or years old0

Many thanks - its says that vehical details cannot be found0 -
You need to tell us make / model / details as jaydeeuk1 has asked.
I can buy a brand new Peugeot 208, say, and it could have been built last month - but the model might appear as "Peugeot 208 xxx 2012 ON" because that's when it first came out.
I may also be able to buy a 207 which has been sat in a field for three years. It does genuinely happen but most people would know that a 207 is the old model and get a cracking price for it.
Your paperwork from the dealer should show you what model year (MY) it is... At the very least you'll be able to check online and compare the current spec with what you've bought (look for the model year changes, eg the 2016 model has the tyre pressure monitor, leather steering wheel and esp as standard)0 -
And, anyone thinking of spending the thick end of £10,000 or potentially much more - particularly when on finance - absolutely must take someone with them.
A car sales exec will be selling cars every single day.
On the other hand, very very few members of the general public will be buying cars every single day. It is this fact which puts the general public at a disadvantage when buying cars, not that the sales exec was clever or the buyer was female...0 -
Do you have the car's VIN? Tenth digit will show production year. 2012 would be C, 2015 would be F.0
-
Check the VIN it will also tell you which factory the car was made. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0
