Hi MM
I've checked back through the updates and it seems the form didn't pull through, it does happen occasionally. i've put your figures in now.
If anyone does go in & check the spreadsheet at all, I change the name to red and hide most of the completed rows once i've entered it across.- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
- Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps0 -

Hi all,
I went AWOL for a bit (well 6 months) due to family issues. However I have kept up with my overpayments and seem to be heading down the right road. I have just provided my update and am looking forward to seeing my progress on the sheet. I hope it is all going well for everyone! I will catch up on the posts in this thread later on this evening with a good ole cuppaMFW Start:[STRIKE] Sep 2014 - £110,844[/STRIKE], July 2019 New Home £190,995

Hi all,
I realised - thinking about things last week for the spending diary - that I am probably looking in the wrong place for the easy wins.
Yes, I should keep an eye on what I spend for lunchtime treats. It's maybe £10/week, and I usually only go out when I really need a break from the office and to take a pause.
But I pay £300/year for a subscription to the Harvard Business Review (and the same again or even a bit more for the Financial Times). I do use them regularly and enjoy them, but it's in the nice to have category. I could replace with a book on a Kindle.
That together is 100 times an "eating out lunch" treat myself over one year. D'oh.
So I've set myself the goal of stopping and finding free sources of information (the auto renewal is already stopped for next year for HBR, will do for the FT).
And then there are all the professional registrations, a few which I need and others which are in the nice to have category (a bit of background reading again). There's another £500 easy win right there each year.
It is daft really, I should know better. I'm mortgage free and to do that I really paid attention to the discretionary spending over a 5 year period through to 2010.
Right, I've made the commitment - in front of MFiT-4 - to take action ! Let's make it - through to the end of MFiT4 - to save £3k through cutting most of the subscriptions. It would have a much reduced effect on my quality of life than beating myself up when I need a break and a sandwich.

Good luck, FG!
For us, I've talked it over with DH (I manage the budget/finances) and suggest we try X for a certain amount of time (depending on what X is our trial might last 1 month or 1+ years). At that point we re-evaluate and accept/reject the change long-term. Knowing that the change could be temporary helps us stretch the boundaries on what we're willing to tweak.0 -
