Say yes but rent will be £2000 per week IN ADVANCE, IN CASH, with a £10,000 deposit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Our sellers did exactly this a couple of years ago, and it worked out fine. She paid rent to their seller prior to exchange/completion
IN the world of the internet everything is worst-case scenario. IN the real world you'd probably be fine, but the outcome would be bad if it went wrong (probably a small risk - are you willing to take it?)0 -
I would suggest a Travelodge and putting stuff in storage.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Be sure to keep us updated on how their quest for compensation goes...0

A risk the OP has absolutely no need to take. And i'd question the suggestion it's small.0 -

Can I play devil's advocate and present the opposite view?
No - I can't.
this is a mad idea. Do you want to be a landlord? To have to declare the rent as income to HMRC? To comply with 103 other landlord/tenant regulations?
There's no issue with compensation either. Firstly, the fault lies with the buyer, for handing in notice. Second, where she lives, and what she pays for that accomodation (rent, hotel costs, expenses at her mum's) before the sale Completes IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM.

I suppose if she doesn't ask, she doesn't get but... she's going to have to spend a lot more on rent if she pulls out, then if she doesn't.0
