Wonder if anyone here can advise.
I had a contract with Orange, it was a month to month basis but I kept going over on data and the cost got higher each month.
I called them to cancel the agreement, and they talked me into a super duper new yr long contract if I moved over to EE, which I did.
My account was clear, nothing owing and my new account was set up and running in no time.
This was in Sept 15.
At the end of October I got a bill from Orange telling me I was late in payment and owed them £41.69. I phoned them straight away as I knew this was a mistake. The call handler checked my details and agreed, I owed nothing.
Moving on to Friday I checked my credit information, only to find a late marker on my file from Orange for £41!!
Im careful with my credit and keep tabs on it - l'm so angry about this.
I called EE again straight away, the caller spoke with his supervisor and confirmed I owe nothing, the Orange account was closed with a zero balance.
I have raised a dispute with the credit company and gave contacted Orange/EE about the situation.
Realistically what should happen next and is there anything else I should be doing?

Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

Make a formal written complaint TODAY. Wait 8 weeks and then go to CISAS when they failt to respond (as they are higfhly likely to). Then demand the incorrect information is removed from all your external credit files, a written apology AND £50 compensation for your time and inconvenience etc.
I've had to to this THREE times with them and they immediately conce all when CISAS get involved. Meanwhile, NEVER trust anything they tell in - even in writing several times over - in respect of having removed external file entries (been there/done that too!). CHECK yourself directly with the reference agencies (and claim the cost as well for so doing).0 -

I had a late payment marker from years ago that I noticed when applying for a mortgage, I emailed this team with a copy of the marker, my old account number and a copy of my bank statement showing I did make a payment. They emailed me back within a week to say they have submitted a correction to the credit reference agencies.

I had two-three letters confirming they had done it (one of my three separate successful CISAS complaints). That complaint was becuase I believed them - and a year later discovered they hadn't.0
