O/S Daily Thread Monday 7th December

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa and I'm about to jump in the shower & then set off for work, hubby is on lates this week.
My visitors left around 10ish, my DD phoned to ask for a lift, she had dropped her husband's car off to be repaired at a local garage so I took her and 3 of the children home, the other were going to a birthday party & DS gave them a lift as her hubby was at work.
I did manage to get some crochet done but not much, I also O/D'd on Pride & Prejudice with Jennifer Ehle & Colin Firth the whole series was on so I hit record and watched it when I got home.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Still dark, wet underfoot, but the wind seems to have settled down, still quite mild.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Myself and the boys had a lovely lunch at my bro and sils' before we left yesterday. He made a beef stew and served it with mash, steamed kale and pan fried cabbage, then served apple strudel cake with either custard or ice cream for dessert - was delicious. I made a snack of fish finger sandwiches last night once we got back, DH had those too, I didn't have anything as I was still full from lunch.

Dinner tonight will be gammon steaks, egg, roasted herby potatoes, and peas.
Back to work today for me, we'll have to see what sort of day we get.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all,

Wide awake since the men woke me doing the last tango in Paris on the stairs and as usual there was a dog somewhere in the middle of it.

So glad it's Monday as we've had a non-stop weekend. Hubby and I have done nothing but snap and snarl at eachother all weekend.

Finally got the Christmas tree I wanted. No compromise needed on baubles as it's a small tree but fibre optic. He's also bought his first peice in the Christmas village display he wants to collect.

• Good morning everyone, I am about to head off to work. Working late today but this is my short week. Short week has not happened too often since I reduced my hours, really looking forward to a long weekend. This is not the spirit, not on a Monday when the working week hasn't even started.
Managed a good sleep, woohoo!
Mild but damp here, soggy feeling, at least not a gale to walk through.
Hope everyone has a good day.

• Morning all. Well the wind finally dropped yesterday afternoon so it was lovely being able to sleep with the windows open again and not get blown out of bed!! No rain at the minute but understand there is a band of more of it heading our way. Haven't we had enough!

I never did get the tree up yesterday. We usually have a big one in the bay but earlier this year I got a long coffee table to sit across there. So where does the tree go? Could hide the table in the garage but don't want to! The alternative is getting a small tree to sit on the coffee table. Can't decide!

I am meeting my oldest friend (we met 62 years ago at junior school) this morning for coffee and a card 'n present swap. We can natter for England when we meet up. Mr TA is going for the second of his fortnightly blood tests, as requested by Liverpool, and then his pre-Christmas haircut. Not before time!

Not much in the way of cooking to be done today as lots of chicken and veg left from yesterday. That will warm up nicely this evening. A quick lunch when I get back of whatever bits and pieces I garner from the fridge.

WEALTHYGIRL what a treat for you. I was so glad Anita (our local girl made good!) got through to the semis. I am sick of the nasty comments (by Craig in particular) and low marks she gets week after week. Looks like a big portion of the GBP agree.

Have a good day all ((((((HUGS))))) if wanted/needed. Take care xx

Morning all

TA I agree about Anita , I think she's fantastic and has had a rough ride with the judges , and she's the only one with no dance training

Haven't started on putting up the Xmas decs yet , think it will be next weekend before I do that :xmastree:

Off to work in a minute , just need to make some lunch to take

Been watching the news of the flooding in Cumbria , how awful , those poor people just before Xmas too :(

The wind and rain seems to have abated here , I hope so anyway

Right off I go. Have a lovely day everyone xx

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I enjoyed yesterday so much, I want to do it again today :D While I can't sit and watch films all afternoon again - there's too much to do - I can light more scented candles and ignore the rest of the world :D

I need to sort out my doggy hamper for Scampi's rescue centre, I've mostly filled it but need to decide on a couple more things. And find a nicer box, the one I have is a bit tatty. I have a couple of loads of washing to do and will dust downstairs, then I'll check my Christmas list to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. I thought I'd need two trips to town but I reckon I'll be able to do it in one, probably on friday. Will check my food list later and do an online order for that later in the week – miss tru is in charge of the Christmas Eve family buffet so I'll wait for her to get home from work to tell me what is needed :D

Morning All

Wet again today but yesterday was really quite nice weatherwise.

No washing as the machine seems to have broken, found one at Argos to be delivered - despite all their promises the delivery will be £8.95 not £3.95 as stated on the website, will take 12 days (not the 5 promised) and they can't do a Saturday despite the web page telling me they would. I had a 'chat' with the on-line person who told me all these things were wrong and when was I placing my order! I'll go after work to Currys to have a look.

Got myself and DD and Christmas Tree yesterday from Ikea, £25 each but they give you a voucher for £20 to spend in January which is easy to do. DD has hers up, mine is in the conservatory!

Went for the paint in the cellar yesterday and had to wade through about 6 inches of water, never seen it that bad. I had put everything on pallets to keep it off the ground but they are nearly floating! There will be quite a lot of things ruined but at least I am safe and dry in the house.

Anyway, have a good week ahead. Take care. XX

Morning everyone.

Seems dry outside but we are expecting more rain. Yesterday stayed nice until the early afternoon when the wind lifted and light rain appeared.

Today I will be vacuuming and dusting a bit. I'll do upstairs before I go down for breakfast. Must renew the house insurance today, when I tried last week the fire alarm in their building went off just as we started so the call was abandoned.

Thanks for the carol tru.

Sorry to hear your cellar has flooded Camelot.

Right, I am about to move myself out of bed.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning everyone,

Mild and damp out there, wish the weather would dry up and get colder, no wonder there are loads of nasty bugs around at the moment with such high temperatures.

Would like to sort through my kitchen cupboards today and clean them through, then have a look at what decorations I have and see if need anything else. Last year we just had a small tree in our fireplace which worked well as it kept everything out of the way of the dogs, always a good idea :)
Had a lovely restful afternoon yesterday, sat and watched A Little Chaos with Kate Winslet, a quiet, gentle film so perfect for a Sunday and managed not to fall asleep after our large lunch. Made my first mince pies of the year in the morning, had cheated and brought my mincemeat from Aldeee, it was the one recommended by GH and have to say it was lovely. DOH clearly thought so as had four with various toppings.

Anyways, cuppa finished and time to get a shake on, get well wishes to any poorly folk x
