***Joe134*** In the belief that you have chosen the correct paper size, have a read of this link.
    http://www.idownloadblog.com/2013/09/30/printer-pro-5-review/
Thanks for link james.I appreciate your help.
When you say that I have chosen the correct paper size, that's where I'm confused.
Before I start adding any Apps,
Where, on my I-pad, is there any choices of sizes etc?
It just says, select printer, I do that, it detects my HP , then the only option, is Print.
Unlike my Pc, where I can choose paper sizes etc?
If an App is needed, ok, but, isn't it possible to select A4 size just from I-pad, or, any options for that matter?
Why is the default size, letter?
  • Joe134 Having the default size as letter is not a good start, but I see that letter is slightly narrower.

It would help greatly if you had a read of the most recent link I gave you. It includes an app that is likely to makes things easier for you. I don't have any thing Jobsian to give you specific notes
  • Thanks for all replies. He has just told me he has got Printer Pro app and is now able to use his old printer to print from his IPad.

Saves me having to buy a printer😎😎

Thanks james,I've read it all, and looks as though I may need the app, why, I don,t know?
I understood, if you had an air printer, which mine is, the iPad Air should print normally as a PC?
    Apparently not!

It,s just as easy to e mail everything to my PC, and print from there.
Thanks for all your advice, really appreciated.
    Cheers.
  • Joe134 That's all right, the email to the printer dose work & indeed take the least effort. The printer I have is a HP Laserjet M401 that is Airprint friendly. This thread won't go any where if you later decide to give the App a try

Thanks james, I don't use the i-pad much, mainly banking.
I like my pc for documents etc.
As the i-pad stands now, it will print anything , but, only a quarter size, so, I'm saving 75% ink to print things in letter size instead of standard A4:)

I'm still curious as to why the i-pad will only print a quarter size, but, looks like I'm not going to find out.YET.
    I never give up.

One final question? If I may
    You say you have an I-pad and an HP air printer? same as me but different model;;
Do you use this APP with it?
and if you do not, does your I-pad print full A4 from get go?

Maybe that's Apples way of flogging Apps;)
    thanks again.
  • Joe134 There is some confusion here. Sadly I do not have any thing Jobsian, or I would be giving you exact directions

    Or what about this link;
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5630633?tstart=0

What is coming to mind is, have you tried any other brands of printer?
And is the printer driver up to date?

One of my friends who lives two streets away has a Jobsian tablet, I shall most likely see him soon. If you keep an eye on this thread, I can see what he knows

you don't need drivers with an ipad, that's why they have air isn't it?
all drivers on my pc are up to date, no problem with my pc, just my apple air ipad 1.
what's a jobsian?:) another name for a pad?
the link was very informative , thanks, so, it,s not just me.it's a common trait.
    all clear now,cheers james.
  • Joe134 Jobsia as I understand it is an internet slang meaning, pertaining to Steve Job, ultimately Apple.

So to nail things down, are your Tablet print outs the same or better?
I can see my friend with an Apple Tablet in the next day to see what he knows

Hi James, my printouts are still the same as the people in the last link you gave me, quarter page.
If I download that HP app, in that link,it should do the same for me as it did for them, fix it?
It doesn,t say if it,s a free app, or what the price is?
    Not even in Apple apps!
I,m in no rush,as I can just print from PC in the meantime.:
If it can be changed without an app, all the better
    beer:
