Is it mains operated direct or via transformer?

  • Do you mean one of these?
(others are available / pound shop maybe)

You'd still need an extension cable tho.

What is a two-pin plug? Where were you going to plug it if it had been long enough? Two-pin plugs of the type I am thinking of would plug into a shaver socket. As asked above is it mains or low voltage? Is it of UK origin or European as if it is mains it should have a three-pin plug. If it is European it may have a two-pin.

Wouldn't you be better off getting an adaptor that allows a 2-pin euro-plug to be plugged into a normal 13 amp socket?
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Why not put a proper 3 pin UK plug on it.

OP, is it a 2 pin euro plug or a 2 pin shaver plug? The two are not the same.

If it's a euro plug it would probably be easier to change the plug to a 3 pin plug and use a normal extension cable. Not sure you could do that if it's a shaver plug/cord due to lower voltage.

Check the voltage of the C W light. (hope you did that when you bought it ?)

The neatest way to extend the cable is -

    1. Buy the length of cable you need to reach the 13 amp socket.
    2. Cut off the original plug, that you have on the C W light.
    3. Join your new length of cable to the original cable on the C W , light.
    4. Connect a 13 amp plug to the other end of your new length of , cable.
    5. Most important FIT A LOW RATED FUSE (ONE AMP OR LESS) in the 13 amp plug.
    6. Make a good join to the original cable (soldered if possible) and , WELL INSULATED.

Will this C W light be hanging on the outside of the front door ? If so will it get wet if it rains? Will the C R light be able to be touched ? I think you will be liable for any injury to persons / children touching your C R light. - take care -
