Car sounding like it's trying to wheel spin when moving off

Everytime I move off from standstill car makes a loud "Grrrr groaning" noise but stops soon as I get up to speed and pop into 2nd gear etc. It's been doing it a couple of months now but has been getting worser/more noticeable since part of the exhaust has started blowing under acceleration.
Not sure if it has been to do with the exhaust since the start or if it is something different altogether, even the clutch maybe.
Feels like many jobs are starting to crop up on the 2001 Megane as it needs new CV joint and Track Rods too as there is other noises while driving.

A problem with first gear? Is it noisy in first gear at steady spends and on overrun or only when accelerating?0

Sounds like the car revving without moving....the clutch is going.
To check the clutch, whilst in 3/4 th gear and doing 20-30 mph accelerate as hard as you can (floor the throttle), if you get the same noise, and the the car doesn't accelerate than your need to add new clutch to the 'to do' list0 -
Set off in 5th gear and watch revs reduce to a stall0

Could be loads of things.. Sticky brakes even.
Glad to see your on top of it though.. Only two months0 -
sounds like a gearbox bearing to me..
check clutch and if its fine.. drive it (make sure you have breakdown cover incase box dies)
track rod ends are easy to do..
cv joint is only part of the shaft on these meganes.. the mk2 had separate joints.. might want to get the cv issue sorted soonish if that explodes/comes apart you have no drive...Sealed pot challenger # 10

Sounds like weak or broken springs in the clutch plate.
Acts as a damper when releasing the clutch but yours sound like they are either very weak not supporting the plate properly when the pressure plate starts to grip the clutch plate or you have a broken spring.
Could go for years loke this or could be a real problem if its a broken spring and part tries to break free.If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -

Don't think it is the clutch slipping as I've tried it today.0

There's always one who thinks they are better than everyone else.
Yeah, what is the point in getting car "fixed" if I don't know what the problem is. It's always worth waiting for it to develop further first.0 -
If its as i have stated above, it will be most noticeable when trying to move of quickly and releasing the clutch quite quickly.
If you keep the revs lower and gently release the clutch slipping it a bit more than normal you should be able to pull of without any noise. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0
