    Thanks a lot.

    I do have a few :

Which 'voucher' eatery is closest to the Travelodge? Is the Vue Cinema at the Millenium Plaza an easy walk from the accommodation? Are taxis readily available? Is it possible to walk to Techniquest from Travelodge?

ma potters would be the nearest, followed by bella italia.

for ma potters - come out of travelodge, and cross over to opposite side of the road. turn to the left and walk up st mary's street. you will pass a sports shop and come to a lane - cardiff's infamous 'chippy lane'. turn right into chippy lane, and about half way down on the left hand side you will find 'coal' - this is cardiff's ma potters (might want to phone and check whether they will accept ma potters vouchers 08717031067).

alternatively for bella italia, instead of turning right ito chippy lane, keep walking up st marys street, past hard rock cafe. keep going until you are almost at the castle. bella italia will be on your left hand side.

for vue cinema - come out of travel lodge and turn left. walk past the philamonic and turn left at the prince of wales onto wood street. walk down wood st past the bus station. cross over when it is safe to do so. vue is in the big building in front of the millennium stadium. enter via the doors under the bar risa sign. they've recently stopped manning the downstairs ticket desk so you may have to take the elevator upstairs (two lots of elevators if i remember correctly). you buy your tickets at the popcorn desk on the first floor of the cinema (which is the 2nd/3rd floor of the building).

whilst down the bay, look out for the red dragon centre. this is about a 10 mintue walk from techniquest. there is an odeon cinema there (more expensive than vue) but also 10 pin bowling and a dr who exhibition if thats of any interest to your little ones :D for any torchwood fans amongt you, the torchwood HQ can be found in the oval basin down in the bay, just outside the millennium centre (the building that looks like an armadillo :rotfl: )

That's brilliant. Thanks for your time in finding these links for me.

Love boat rides..so civilised! Think we can splash out on a trip to Cardiff Bay that way.

The theatre is a secret treat for my daughter so I picked Techniquest for my son. I have so many tesco vouchers the fact TQ is included in those ratified the deal! We have a whole day free for TQ so, perhaps, if we find that isn't taking all day we could hit Dr Who too. We aren't Torchwood fans as such (except that I would go if John Barrowman was there!) but we love Dr Who - who doesn't, it's so bad it's good.

I hate mwah ha ha's. It may well be nice enough in the day, but n the evening it's full of posh wannabes, networking. The slug and lettuce is 2 seconds away from there, and is very nice without being pretentious. Can get a little louder in the evenings though.

Don't foret the Doctor Who exhibition in with the cinema in the bay (presuming it's still there)
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

cardiff musuem (in the centre of town) is free entry. st fagans musuem of welsh life is also free entry and a nice afternoon out should you have time on your hand. you should have no problem getting a bus from the bus station to there.

in the bay itself, there is the norwegian church (links to roald dahl's past) and the 'tube' ( a tube shaped visitor centre with info about the history of the cardiff docks and surrounding area) are free. you can also go into the senedd (the welsh aseembly building) to have a look around certain parts (also free, but security is understandably tight).

If you're using Tesco vouchers you can also use them in Cafe Rouge theres one a short walk from Techniquest. Also theres a Bella Italia in the Red Dragon Centre.
