Please don't book this hotel, it was voted one of the worst hotels in the country recently. I have stayed there a few years ago after a christmas party (I'm from Brum) and its not nice!
Alot of the people on here have stayed at the nitenite hotel, its in a great location the rooms are small but there have been some great prices at under £10.00 per night ( I don't know if they are still going)
Look on trip advisor for reviews its really helpful

I know they are doing it up but I think its going to take a while.
There is also the Etap hotel in bham which you could get for approx £70. for two nights for both of you. Its a basic budget hotel but new so not tatty. But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
Thanks for the reply. Have looked at the nitenite reviews and they dont seem to be too great either! lol!Have stayed in the Britania before and know its not great but its so close to the Bullring! anyone know of anywhere else that is close to the shops? Thanks x0

The holiday Inn? I stayed at the nitenite a few weeks ago, got the deal £5.95!! Small rooms with no window, but lovely and clean, very near to shops etc... would stay there again, no problem. That deal is gone now, think its £50 something a night.0

I think the holiday inn is a great idea! I've used them abroad and the prices if you book direct can't be beaten. https://secure.ichotelsgroup.com approx £52.00 per night per couple and I think that includes breakfast too!
The location is good too, maybe not as close as the bullring. But if ever I stray from the path I follow

Try laterooms.com if you decide to go for the Britannia (although by all accounts the only thing going for that hotel is its location). Quidco gets you 5% cashback on laterooms bookings as well.
Or travelodge might have good deals especially so far in advance;0 -
Try the Crowne Plaza: very luxurious, very close to New Street. A spacious double room cost me 89 pounds for TWO nights! A kind member of this forum posted a link to a website that offered two nights for the price of one: a great deal.
(However, the hotel was not aware of the promotion, charged me the full amount and I had to send them the link and ask for a refund. They did this, and were very prompt and helpful about it, as about every aspect of my stay.)0 -

Stayed at the Nitenite last week for 2 nights.
Yes the rooms are tiny (and this is an under statement!), but the place was extremly clean, deadly quiet, comfy beds, huge TV, great shower, lovely receptionists, and close to shops etc.
We paid £5.95, and I would definately return to the hotel and Birmingham.:j0 -
