Anyone had this email to raise the speed from 50 to 70?

On it and the first part of the 'order now' process there is no mention of price rises but then on the final page:

We'll email you in the next 48 hours to let you know the exact cost of your order (even if it's free or there’s no change to your monthly bill). Don't worry, if there is a change to your bill, you'll get the very best price we can give you based on the mix of services in your package. And remember, if you change your mind about upgrading, you can cancel your new services within 7 days.

Previously (years ago) Ive had emails from Virgin to say that the speed had been increased and these were free.

Are they sneakily trying to get you to upgrade (and pay more!!!).

Not an email but it was there in my online account. I've now been upgraded to 70mb for almost 3 weeks.

There has been no extra charge since my move and it did not involve a new contract. So no they're not doing anything sneaky.

I think you have to confirm it to get the increase.

How can you actually check that you are getting that speed?

Clicking on Router Status will show the correct configuration for 70mb. Using a speed test will show what speed you are getting.

So you still had to go through the 'order now' process?

    Thanks for this.

Results for me are 48.5Mbps and 2.9Mbps on wifi (sat next to router)

TBH we've rarely had any issues with speed

    Thank you.

My VM speed is supposed to be 200mb, and I just ran the test, I'm getting 32.2 download, and 8 upload.

Is this accurate or did I do something wrong?

    are you on wifi ?

maybe your wifi to usb is not upto the job.
Try a network cable direct to your computer. If its still poor then you would be better of paying less !

I always get just over the stated download speed on my wired connections and about 40-50% on my wifi devices.

Waiting for my free upgrade from 100 to 150Mbps in January.
