From items on this thread.
The Border crossing charge from Canada to the US is $6 each payable in cash or credit card (at the crossing point South of Vancouver). Not as straight forward as arriving by air and a bit more thorough being 'interviewed' inside the building rather that at a desk.
Don't forget to return the form when you leave the country !
East Hastings street has a LOT of junkies, drunks and alternative lifestyle people on it (literally hundreds, but it is a long street !) easilly avoided, but its one of the main routes to the harbour front.
Everything went seamlessly. Except for East Hastings Street, Vancouver and Whistler were gorgeous.
Glad you had a good time

I loved the Pacific Northwest too
I'm off to the airport tomorrow to start my Maine roadtrip (flying Wednesday :o).
Currently having a nightmare trying to work out my cabin bag size limit to comply with the different airlines, usually it's not a problem as my hand luggage is only paperwork, maps ans chargers etc but this trip I feel the need to take a couple of changes of clothes as I have no confidence in my luggage arriving at the same time and place that I do!

If it helps at all, on the internal flights that we took, the flightstewards/esses were intercepting people on the airbridges and moving larger cabin bags to the hold, rather than letting them onboard the plane. A larger cabin bag should be big enough for a couple of changes of clothes/footwear as well as your normal stuff
I hope that you enjoy Maine -its on my list of places I'd like to visit

We had a nightmare journey to New Orleans, with connecting flight from Philadelphia cancelled, rerouted through Charlotte that cancelled. Then luggage didn't arrive.
I have only carried spare undies. Learned my lesson now!
In disputed with AA, but looks like EU regs don't apply as we booked through a package. Damn annoying.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Pollypenny, the fact that you booked a package has absolutely no effect on your rights under EU261. The question is were you delayed by more than 3 hours? I am assuming the flight from the UK was not, and the problems only started on arrival in the US? In that case most of the US carriers claim EU 261 does not apply. the EU says that it does if you were on a single ticket. If you only had one booking reference for the whole route, then the law should apply, if the operator booked separately for the internal flights then they may have a point, but its not because its a package, its because the flight doesn't begin in the EU0

A quick mooch onto a no win/no fee flight delay website would possibly let you know if you were entitled to some compo - it would cost you part of the claim, but half a loaf is better than no loaf at all :beer:0 -

Oh, thanks for that, Alan. It's Martin who says, on this site that the EU Reg doesn't apply if it's a package booking.
We were booked to New Orleans, via Philadelphia, by Cosmos.
I'm over jet-lag and looking after son and grandsons tiredness now, do I'll put mind and formal, argumentative letter together tomorrow.
Edit to add: I looked again at the section on the site and found that it says that package holiday flights are covered. I must have been too tired to think.
Anyway, used a combination of both delay and cancellation template letters, with playing the 'senior' card, too.
I suppose they'll claim that it was bad weather, which caused the cancellations, but I have admissions that other flights left, so it was down to choices.
