This may be an obvious question, however.
I have an 02 mobile contract which runs out in Jan. If i go through quidco to get a new 02 account and phone, can i transfer my current mobile number on 02 to the new phone.
I know transferring from say EE to 02 you get a code, but does that work transferring from/to the same provider, iyswim?

The code (PAC) works only for porting between different networks.
Generally, you can't transfer your number within the same network, but AFAIK, O2 is the only network doing this.
In the worst case scenario you can port the number in two steps via another network PAYG SIM.
And beware, your contract doesn't run out. Only the minimum term does.0
