I need to edit two photos so that I can have them printed as Christmas presents. They are my own photos before anyone worries.
A kind person has managed one of them, but unfortunately the file returned is too small to be good enough to print. The original file was around 6mb, the returned just 720kb
Anyone got any recommendations?

Unfortunately the person trying to help you doesn't know what they are doing.
It sounds like the edited image has been saved at a low dpi suitable for website use and not for printing.
If you download Irfanview from https://www.irfanview.com you can probably edit the picture yourself - read the built-in HELP.
You will be able to view the edited image properties simply by viewing using Irfanview - Click on the I icon.
The image needs to be saved at 300 dpi for printing.0 -
It depends upon how much editing you want to do. There are limited facilities available sometimes with printer software and with some Widows O/S's. For professional editing you will need Photoshop or Elements or Lightroom or CC or ....... but they all cost0

You could use GIMP, from https://www.gimp.org/
or
PAINT.NET from here http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
Both are free and every bit as feature rich as their super expensive cousins ..0 -
