I had a better night's sleep and did not wake up till 10 a.m.

Washing is on the line and kitchen tidied a bit. Friend and her husband have just left having picked up the mobile gas heater. I managed to find a trolley thing on wheels in garage to help move it.

Brunch of an omelette and going to have a coffee and browse on here. I wanted to nip out for wrapping paper but don't want to miss a parcel delivery or a phone call.

Middle dd is popping round for a meal tonight and collecting her parcels. Looking forward to seeing her and other DDs come round on Sunday :j

I find some essential oils in an aromatherapy burner help when sleep is difficult and you can mix whatever you find soothing. DH used to love the "burglars blend" which smelt clean and woody.

Even my DDs said they liked the aromatherapy smell round the house and they are not "new age".

I loved the carol, years ago I ordered some pagan cards with the real meaning of the words and it was quite an eye opener. Who knew mistletoe essence was a contraceptive?

    Hugs to all

Another member of Insomniacs Anonymous here; trouble is when I do manage to sleep, I get nightmares (carp from 50 years ago) so I can't win.
Currently trying Valerian in the hope of an improvement (already tried passiflors, lavender oil, hop pillows, hot milky drinks and Temazepam and several other things to no effect).

Sorry, didn't get on MSE yesterday. Dotty is very time-consuming! She's very, very sweet, but high energy, as she's only 18 months old, and constantly wants to either play or stand at the patio door and yell abuse at the squirrels!.:D She's found herself a boyfriend - lovely little chap already known to me, name of Sweep.:o

Lainey I bet you're glad to have Bill home. I do love hearing of his progress - I was worrying with you earlier, of course; it's many years since I rode horses, and never likely to do so again (it'd need a crane to get me in the saddle nowadays!) but I do still care for our Equine friends.

Gotta go - Dotty will be wanting her afternoon constitutional, and I want to get round before it drops dark.;)

For all the sleep deprived on here, there's a ten minute body scan on you tube, by Greg de vries, that's brill. I did a mindfulness course years ago, and although Jon Kabat Zinn is the guru of these meditations, I find this ten minute one long enough ☺
Not done much OSing today, more CBAing as this wet n dreary weather is really depressing me :(
Think i'll have an omelette for tea, with a jacket spud, then settle with the pooches in front of the box :)

Thank you, most of the pictures ive taken to send to my children of her lately have been when she has been flat out in bed.

Today she has been eating by herself instead of having to be fed.

More good news, ive heard from my eldest son. Both he and my middle son are well and my eldest son has got my middle son working with him to keep an eye on him!

Today has been a good day.

Thank you LW. - yes, so so glad to get Bill home and will continue to update on his progress, next big step is the injections on Tuesday and we will take it from there.
To me, our equine pals give as much back to us as we do to them, same with most animals tbh, Bill has seen me through some really rough times and is incredibly dear to me. Can literally feel my BP drop as I drive onto the yard, can forget about any troubles I have for a while and just be :)
If I was ever to come into a lot of money ( don't know how as never do the lottery ) I would love to set up a centre that helped troubled children and adults via the power of horse. There has been a number of studies done that document the benefits achieved and a few such places exist, would love to add another :j
    Anyways, that's my dream xx

I am not a great sleeper but because in my working life I did work odd hours I am able to drop off for half an hour and wake quite refreshed.Tonight I shall be taking Dd to her works 'do' and then coming home and I'll put my feet up and relax and snooze until picking her up around 11.30 to take her home again.

Managed to get all of my cards written out and posted today .The postage was a bit horrendous as I have around 8 or 9 overseas card that had to be sent off,Mexico,Australia,Canada.France and Eire, a lot of my relations live in far-flung spots .my cousins in Australia even live on opposite sides of the country, and they love to get news and a snowy Christmas card from 'home'

Still its one job done and out of the way.All of my Christmas shopping is finished as DD gets lots of bits for me online and it saves me trekking around the shops, plus I try to buy a few odds and ends during the year Just got to wrap the blessed things up now .

Apart from buying some sausage meat and puff pastry I have nothing else to buy as I flit between both Dds for over a week during Christmas and new year so very little food shopping to get as I am eating from the freezer at the moment :):):)

Hi JackieO - I got all my cards written out yesterday afternoon. Took me three a bit hours including typing up the yearly 'newsletter. :)

Got them all posted off today and have to say that by lunchtime, the postbox inside the post office was quite full, so i think everybody has had the same idea to get them all off this week.

The overseas ones for USA, New Zealand and Australia went last week. Cost me just slightly under £10.00  this postage lark is getting expensive!

Still it's one of the last big jobs out of the way and I am glad they are gone!

I have ot say I agree with some of you on here about lurgies. I had a flu like symptom about three weeks ago. I was just going cold and felt pretty lathargic. Got over that then I had a nasty chest infection. Sleeping has been not so great, but I am starting to get back on an even keel again.

  • Thanks for the Carol tru, it is one of my favourites :D

Another night where I didn't drop off until 4am :( If I take my painkillers I sleep until DH wakes me when he gets in from work, but I don't want to rely on them to get me to sleep.

DD and her BF have been house/dog sitting for friends, it has given us all a bit of space, she keeps dropping in though :D I think she misses being at home where Mum does everything:rotfl:Shhhh .....I miss her too ;) She will be home next weekend so not too long now.
She finishes at her job next week and starts her new one in January which gives her Christmas off, she is really looking forward to It.
When she gets home we will start watching all of the Christmas videos that we love, Wonderful life, White Christmas, Muppet Christmas Carol, Bishops wife, Going my way, Bells of St Mary's, Scrooge all the versions that we have ie Musical, George C Scott, Alistair Simm, Patrick Stewart and the Cartoon one, but not the Jim Carey one, that was awful!

I am going to write the cards tonight, I managed to wrap a lot of presents today, because no one was here:D

Spag Bol for dinner tonight which we haven't had for a while.

Must get the garlic bread in and the pasta on, DH will be home soon.

    Evening all,

Been to our nearest Oriental shop to pick up a gallon of vinegar, gyoza and other wrappers, sesame oil and various bits and pieces I normally get there......wasnt able to find coconut flour which is an ingredient in the bread for which DD3 sent me a recipe.....anyone out there with any ideas of type of shop which might stock it? TIA

Sympathy to all the nonsleepers, I had the problem years ago but now find that I can sleep for Ireland, which is no more pleasant.....what about the need for less sleep as you age?

Need to make some bread as forgot to buy any while I was out, just speedy soda bread as would probably forget about it if I leave to prove.

Beautiful day here today in comparison to the last few days, no rain and a temperature of 12c.....wind has risen over last couple of hours and there is a downpour forecast for the weekend.

Glad that you found your mother in such good humour today Judi, and that you have had good news from your sons.

Elona.....hope that the bungalow deal works out for you.

LW.....you will certainly be kept on your toes by an 18month old doggy!

Lainey....glad that Bill is improving......all my late mothers family were horse mad......except for her, so I grew up hearing how anti horse she was and wound up afraid of them, I have always avoided them, but ca n appreciate their beauty....from a distance.

    Lyn.....enjoy your visit with DD1.

Hope that you have all had a good day, stay safe and warm

  • Evening all..

Hugs to those who need them....

Had a better day today, had been feeling really down, but had a lovely morning with my LG, and then my Husband was home at lunch (half day Fridays).

Didn’t go far as DH is full of cold, and feeling sorry for himself. Pottered around Tescos, and was treated to a Finest Meal deal and some pretty jewellery.

In all a gentle, easy day, but it was needed.

Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep.

    XxX
