Hi Lainey do you think the Kalms help? I have had Valerian from the Health Shop which, sadly, didn't help. Not sure if Kalms contain a magic ingredient as well as Valerian! I used to be able to sleep through no problem so I can't quite decide what kicked the insomnia off. Maybe dwelling on Mr TA's diagnosis or the discomfort from my IC triggered it. I got a book on Mindfulness a short while back but can't seem to concentrate on it. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Hi TA, yes I do think they have helped, although I do still wake up during the night I can seem to snuggle back down and go back to sleep. Checking on the packet they have Hops, Valerian and Gentian listed as the main ingredients.
Also, they do seem to be helping, along with daily dose of Menopace, my menopause symptoms, mainly hot flushes. They have dropped from couple an hour to only three or four a day which is a much appreciated side effect.
Hope that help for you xx0 -
Morning all,
I have a bit of a funny story about Kalms. I bought some for hubby many years ago as he was going through a period of stress working in a busy sales office... anyway i saw them in the chemist, thought i'd buy them for him but thinking i'd try them on myself first before letting them loose on hubby. My word i slept the clock round! How the heck i managed to keep awake to function as a wife and Mother beats me. I couldnt risk giving them to hubby so they went in the bin.
Anyway, not sure what i'm doing today. I am thinking of going to see Mom this morning but ive been going to see her on Friday evenings. Downside to that is she is usually asleep but the upside of that is, i get to talk to the night staff. They normally give me updates as how she has been sleeping overnight and little bits and pieces they dont write in her care plan for the day staff. In an ideal situation i'd like to visit her during two day shifts and one night shift but that would be a bit much for me.
Not only that, its not very nice for hubby when he walks through the door from working away all week, just as i am leaving. I know his tea is cooked and on the plate but it doesnt look very good does it?
Anyway, i have to decide soon.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good Morning everyone, a beautiful sunny day here at the moment with blue sky and a very gentle breeze so the washing is already out on the line drying. I'm off in a few minutes to the station to go to DD1 as the Choral Society are performing Handels Messiah in the Cathedral tomorrow night, should be wonderful and we also have tickets for the rugby tonight, also wonderful! I'll keep up with your news while I'm there, I think I've mastered the intricacies of her laptop!!!
Have yourselves a lovely weekend and I hope you stay unscathed during the big blow that's forecast, Lyn xxx.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's my youngest daughter's 13th birthday today so she was up at the crack of dawn being very excited to open her cards and presents. Luckily she loved all the gifts we got her. It can be a bit difficult having a birthday so near to Christmas but I was very grateful to have had her 2 weeks early as she was due to be born on the 18th.
She is such a lovely sunny girl, always happy and willing to help around the house. I worried she would turn into a 'Kevin' but there is no sign of that. She wants a little tea party tonight so I have bought some party food from Tesco to cook later on.
My friend was supposed to come and see me yesterday but there was no sign of her and she didn't phone or text either. I was a bit sad but she is going through a difficult time in her personal life so it's understandable if she is a bit flakey at the moment. I hope to hear from her today.
I am another who has trouble sleeping, my brain just doesn't switch off and my mind races through different scenarios until I give up and get up. I don't have any solutions I'm afraid, I won't take sleeping tablets as the medication I'm on is supposed to be sedating anyway. I am fortunate though as I can have a nanna nap in the day if I need one.
Well, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and welcome to the new posters. Take care xxxx0 -
Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
I often have a problem switching off at nnight. Now we are in the bungalow I just get up and come through to the sitting room and read for a while. Just now the heaters are charging up at night so it is warm but not too hot. I did sleep better last night after seeing the Dr. She told me to double up my pain relief at night and take paracetamol 3 times a day, see if it helps. I did sleep better, although OH was wriggling and kept me awake for a bit.
We have council workmen here this morning, we are getting the gates painted and new (horrid) wire fence round the garden including the back. They have been told about the Japenese Knotweed. No sign of the chaps doing the fachia though.
Off to my quilting friend this afternoon, OH is coming with me, not risking leaving him here on his own, he has sorted out a book to read.
No Friday clean it can wait until tomorrow morning.
Elona, I hope you hear soon about your revised offer, I do think that saying they wanted an extra £25,000 was a bit rich, especially if it needs work doing.0 -
Morning all!
I'm so sorry to hear that most of you have trouble sleeping. Keep trying with the mindfulness, it does take a while but I found it really does work.
I've got a busy day today, working in two separate locations about 30 miles apart but I'm meeting hubby for a lunch date.
Its pay day for me today (weekly pay is harder than you think), so I'm planning on going yellow sticker shopping tonight to see what I can pick up then meal planning with what's in the freezer.
Hope you all have a lovely day, I'm jealous of those of you who can Nanna nap this afternoon.Back in the red :mad:

Cleaning the oven is less fun than I hoped.
Very blowy here so towels flapping madly on the line.
I have tried all sorts of sleep inducing things, lavender, natural herby things, relaxation stuff, other stuff that I am too cream crackered to remember and none works for me really. Probably because I can mostly get to sleep but wake up and then tend not to go back to sleep, still, there are worse things in the world.
I have my beady eye on the posh advent calendar bought for DS. He gives a daily update on the chocolate within, possibly could do without that, fruit is in a bowl for me. Not quite the same thoughI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Had a lovely weekend in Spain for DH's birthday. Was very impressed with DS2's GF as she suffers badly from anxiety and was really worried about flying. She'd backed out of a holiday last year as she just couldn't handle the idea but this year with the help of some tablets she had no problem at all. I really hope she manages to go again.
All back to the normal routine again now. Washing caught up with and I have just had a clean around. We have the baby again tonight and am looking forward to that
Managed to order a couple of crimbo presents too which makes me feel like I am making an effort!
Have a fab day0 -
Dumpling happy birthday to your daughter. A teenager! My eldest Grandson is 13 next week. I feel so blasted ancient when i say that.
Well i decided to go and see Mother after all, I'd decided that i was going not because of hubby but i thought it was the right thing to do for her and i'm so glad i went. She was more alert and better natured than ive seen her in many weeks.
I trimmed her hair (her hair grows so fast!) named a few more of her clothes and generally faffed around. All helpful faffing around i like to think. We went through family photos again. She sees them afresh each time she sees them which is a blessing cause out of the huge boxful she did have, she's not got many!
On the downside, the body wash i took her last week to replace the nearly empty bottle of body wash on the sink has now been chucked and the nearly empty bottle is still in its place. The wipes i have taken her have mysteriously vanished too. For goodness sake... my Mother isnt a possession! I refuse to play childish games and refuse to get wound up over it.
