Do EBay add any time to the delivery estimate for Christmas delays or am I going to end up chasing impossible targets. No problems so far, touch wood, but I guess it's all downhill from here! ;)

EBay have said that they will extend delivery times in line with Royal Mail forecasts, but that that is probably over the Chridtmas period, and not this soon

Might have to resort to sending everything recorded to try and protect my account :(

Edit : The first customer has left feedback thanking me for sending a replacement so quickly, but has answered truthfully that the first didn't arrive on time, so a black Mark there then

The old defect system was bad, but this is the measure that will see me lose my TRS fior the first time ever.

It would be cheaper to extend your dispatch times.

Yes, but then I wouldn't qualify for premium listings and as I am on page 1 for a lot of items, it could cost me more in reduced visibility.

They always say they will allow for the Christmas closure but usually forget Boxing Day which means technically everything posted from Christmas Day is late accordino. To ebay. This year it is even worse as RM and the PO are closed for 4 1/2 days overall in Rngland so with the new seller metrics for on time delivery small sellers could be seriously risking their accounts.

same here, my sales are so strong (I can barely pack fast enough) I don't want to risk losing any visibility by dropping the premium badge.

Fair point. Though we are talking about two weeks to give you increased breathing space, not to mention less time having to deal with customers opening INR because their first class purchase did not arrive within 24 hours.

However, I would have a good read of the powerseller forum, as sellers there have reported items being collected late from delivery offices due to buyers not being in are causing late marks on the metric.

If you do, you'll likely end up with many more defects - automatically :(

I base this on my own experience - I sent an order signed for to protect myself against a blocked bidder, who had bought using another ID. Because she wasn't in, I've received automatic late delivery defects for all three items - even though full tracking details show that delivery was attempted the day after posting (she bought Sunday evening & they were posted Monday)

I nearly lost the will to live after spending an hour on the phone to ebay about this and another late delivery defect - even though they could see the full tracking details, they told me to ring back in February, by which time, presumably the full tracking details may not be available any more...

The other late defect is from the same lovely person after she discovered she had been blocked, and maliciously said one item was delivered late - even though she had already marked the other item in the same parcel as arriving on time. Of course ebay wouldn't budge on this one either. :(

The INR case was closed by the buyer today. The item arrived this morning, NINE days after being posted by second class !

  • Yes, have to admit I have been having terrible service with Royal Mail recently. I'm a buyer not a seller but within the past month, I have had:

    A. 1 item failing to arrive
    B. 4 items delayed in the post (sent 11 days ago), which I expect have gone AWOL too since it was posted first class.

I can explain one package going missing every now and again but 5 in one month is absurd and I might even have to expect that foul play might even be involved. Have contacted Royal Mail which just leads to a brick wall and currently drafting some awkward emails to explain to these sellers that my item hasn't arrived
