Christmas post problems already

Had a mail from a buyer earlier in the week asking where their item was. Posted 26th November by second class, so sent another by first class and it got there the next day

Case opened today for INR for something else that was posted second class on 26th Novemver and not arrived yet in the UK

Both were posted by Royal Mail OBA on the same day, but not a lost sack as other items arrived ok.

Anyone else having problems ?

I've got two potential losses out there and am waiting to hear back from the buyers. The first was sent last week on Monday using 2nd class post and buyer reported it hadn't arrived on the Friday, I asked him to wait a few more days and haven't heard anything else since- but haven't got any feedback either.

The second one was a U.S. purchase sent around the 23 or 24th November (I don't have the details in front of me) and apparently lost. Buyer is being extraordnarily nice about it, told me not to worry she won't claim a refund as its bound to be the US post which has gone to pot. I have sent her a replacement though and she seems very grateful for that.

I've sold an item to France today and am a bit worried as it shows estimated delivery from next Tuesday...I can't even post it until tomorrow :(

I ordered a dvd on 17th November sent 2nd class and not yet received. Sent hundreds of parcels via courier without problem yet in the last week have had 3 problems so I'm guessing the Christmas temp staff have started.

Yes, problems here too. Two items I ordered have not arrived, and about 4 potential INR's on the horizon (not arrived after a week).

Royal mail is risky this time of year, if your envelope/parcel looks interesting enough, it may vanish

That's only 10 days ago - far too soon to start panicking. I've had things take 3 weeks to get there before - and customs is going to start getting busier with Christmas.

I think 3 weeks would be a perfectly acceptable time to wait at this time of year, unfortunately ebay keep telling my US buyers that my items will be there in 5-8 days :(

Bit of a sweeping generalisation isn't it? As a postie I object to your comments. I have and never will "take a liking" to someone's property it is a criminal and dismissable offence.

Perhaps if people wrapped parcels correctly and sealed down envelopes items wouldn't go "missing".

In about last 5 years of using eBay I've lost one parcel. Royal Mail is a great service and my local postman is lovely.

It would be a sweeping generalisation if the comment in question stated that packages will get stolen but this wasn't what was stated. All that they said was that they may vanish, something that is true.

  • Do EBay add any time to the delivery estimate for Christmas delays or am I going to end up chasing impossible targets. No problems so far, touch wood, but I guess it's all downhill from here! ;)
