In fairness but "many people in the UK" are more likely to:
- Work 5 days out of 7
- Work hours between 8am and 8pm, with the most common likely being 9-5
- Have a fair number of friends and family who can collect during non-working hours.
This, and some post offices being open until 8pm, allows some flexibility in picking up a parcel.
ALSO, by virtue of OP going to collect a parcel they weren't too sure about I would argue that they were sufficiently able to make the trip with minimal convenience in the first place - aka OP is just making it into a bigger deal than it was.
In fairness, the position of many people, or indeed most people is irrelevant to the OP.
I don't know why you think it necessary to argue on this board that the op is making it into a bigger deal than it was.
Surely we should keep our judgements to ourselves if they are based on assumptions that we cannot be certain about.0 -

I know right! I suspect that I wouldn't have posted had 'George Michael' not tried to make it relevant to the OP, by discussing the working patterns of "many people in the UK". Do you not hold that user to scrutiny?I don't know why you think it necessary to argue on this board that the op is making it into a bigger deal than it was.
Because arguing, by way of bringing up a point which could be valid (and which is open to scrutiny!), can help to solve problems. In this instance, it may determine whether OP can use this as a reason to make a further complaint.Surely we should keep our judgements to ourselves if they are based on assumptions that we cannot be certain about.
Tell me about it! I wouldn't have responded to 'George Michael' had I not felt that he had made a judgement about the OP's circumstances and lack of ability to pick up a parcel between Monday to Saturday!0 -

If we are agreed judging people based on assumptions is best avoided then that's good.
[I actually read George Michael's post differently i.e. as being supportive of the OP by showing circumstances where going to a post office can be difficult - in support of the op's comment that it was inconvenient.]0
