Thursday 3rd December - What Small DFW things will you do today? :D

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

So pleased that the end is almost in sight now for the term. I am utterly exhausted... I go to bed every night with the best of intentions and am still awake after midnight - then normally up by six as well. Ah well....
    Here's today's list.
    ;) check banking and PAD
    ;) reconcile budget
;) cover a dance lesson for a colleague :rotfl:
;) use my very limited free time at work productively
;) get some planning for next week done
    ;) urgently mark some books
    ;) do not get stressed
;) give dh a list of jobs to do
    ;) aim for nsd
    ;) all meals from stores
;) try again for an early night tonight
;) research ways to get a cat to take a tablet
Have a good day everyone - weekend almost here!

    Hello there my lovelies :santa2:

Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks CCL for kicking us off. :A Good luck with the dance lesson! :D

So...following my ranting yesterday I signed up for YNAB and I'm passing it over to OH to fill in his bits. It's so good - I'm quite addicted!!! :D Also, not to sound patronising, but I think it will be really good for OH to see the true picture - at the min he just sees the +ve balance on the joint a/c and not everything else that I'm trying to juggle. He doesn't think about budgeting and I've let him not think about it because it's something I've always just done... :o So now I'm definitely making it a joint thing - he should be CHO (chief household executive - he doesn't like the term house husband :p) since he's at home most of the day!

    Anyway...enough from me!!!!
    • Brekkie at work - free milk :D
    • Packed lunch
    • Complained to the rainforest people - dog food got lost in transit and it took 2 days to tell me - just kept saying 'on its way' - nice extra month extension on prime :T
    • Yoga tonight - 2 peeps paid :T
    • Look for pattern for niece's xmas hat
    • Dare I say a bit of voluntary work...

    Not much tbh!

Morning guys thanks for starting the thread CCL :A hope you survive the dance class :p

Hi Ziggy hope your ma is ok x

Ha ha La E 5 mins on YNAB and your now scouting for recruits, it's a cult I have no doubt! :rotfl:

So despite yesterday not feeling very well (mentally - some days I just can't seem to get my mind to function properly and it feels like I'm in thick tar wading through the day, people talk to me and it takes a few seconds longer to process what is being said) I managed to get quite a lot sorted :T I kept giving myself goals of do 2 things off my list and then I can go online/do some knitting. It really worked :D

Today am feeling a lot better (this is progress in itself as last week when this mood hit me it lasted 2 days) but need to do a couple of important things so shall focus on them....

    * all meals from stores
    * need to pop into town and pick up a gift reserved. Need to call argos 1st as don't want a wasted trip. They sent me a text yesterday evening saying I had until 02.12.15 to pick it up!
    * will pop into Lidl and get a few bits while in town. Will take list and stick to it!
    * continue using up freezer bits and bobs have already got 4 bits out to defrost for tea, will see what else I can use up :D
    * [STRIKE]contact finance person at work and ask for PAYE ref[/STRIKE]
    * photo and list a whole load of items on fleabay
    * move furniture back into our bedroom now it is painted. Might actually paint the skirting boards first....
    * finish my 2nd boot cuff :j just have 4 rows to do and then cast off :D
    *[STRIKE] clean the bathroom[/STRIKE]

Ok that's my lot. Going to allow myself 30 mins of beggering around on here before I get cracking :D Have a great day everyone x

    Morning all :)
Not a big list today as I had a busy day yesterday and simply want to potter about today!

Dog walks x 2 (pup was a bit pathetic yesterday when I got him back from the vet's, but has decided is is fully back in the land of the living today :rotfl:) #1 done :)
Try to prevent pup from jumping about too much
Use up bits from the fridge
    Small shop in Lidl
    Check sales unit while out
    Bit of paperwork for business
    Walk all journeys
Any surveys / FPL (2 surveys done for onepoll already this morning :))
    Check banks
Post something for postal survey later
Sort out CDs and put the ones I keep into a wallet rather than lined up in cases taking up lots of space. Any that I don't keep can go to the CS box
See how much Christmas wrapping paper I have, and decide how much, if any, I need to buy
Not sit on the internet for ages getting thoroughly depressed by the news :(

Right, that lot should keep me going for a while. Hope everyone has a good day :)
  • I brought my lunch in to work (healthy chickpea and lentil salad), and will spend the evening "making doing and mending" - I have various things around the house that need repairing that I've been putting off doing for months!
