Hi
You uninstall Ubuntu by deleting it's partition (then use XP disc to repair MBR).
Ubuntu doesn't use any resources when you're using Windows. It's 'switched off'.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Install kubuntu KDE desktop instead of ubuntus gnome, i find people coming off windows find kde easier.
you can select the partition you want to use.0 -
Duuhh!
I don't know what I've done....I installed Ubuntu with a dual boot and now I can't get Windows. Anyone help?0 -
Yeah...you need to add an entry to the .conf file for Grub for Windows.

Along the menu bar:
Applications > Accessories > Terminal
Then type:sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
Press enter. You'll need to enter your password. Press enter again once you've done that. It'll open up the menu for Grub, at the bottom paste this in:title Windows XP root (hd0,0) makeactive chainloader +1
Save it, and reboot. Windows should now show up as a boot option."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

What does Ubuntu mean?Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Humanity to others', or 'I am what I am because of who we all are'. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

Hi,After my password I typed "sudo/gedit/boot/grub/menu.lst"
but it said "command not found"
Have I done it wrong again!!
Thanks though, it is very reassuring that I can get Windows back. My son's homework is on it and he is not happy!

Hi DK
Do it in this order:-
1 Open the terminal
2 Copy and paste Wolfman's sudo gedit command
3 Press 'enter'
4 Enter password when asked
5 Press 'enter'
6 Then wait for a minute for the file to open
7 Then copy and paste Wolfman's extra lines to the bottom of the file
8 Save the file
9 Close the file
10 Then reboot
(It's best to use copy and paste to avoid typo's etc)
Good luck

The statement you wrote isn't quite right. As Bat mentioned, copy and paste what I put above.
Ie, Highlight the text, press Ctrl+C.
To paste into a Terminal window, Ctrl+V won't work. You actually need to press Ctrl+Shift+V."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
