sony erikkson 880i - phone spot

Hi

Bought a clearance phone from Phonepsot which I think is part of Carphone warehouse. When i first got it I tried to download music without anyjoy. Told to take phone into local carphone warehouse store for a software download / refresh. next day collected still nop joy. decided to wait for my number to port over as me being a phone novice I thought maybe without an active network connection it wouldnt work

Anyway today its 16 days since I goit the phone. Have been making phone calls fine, but despite another trip to Carphone warehopuse store where they gave me a spare USB cord in case that was the issue, I am still unable to download.....

Half of me thinks it might be me or the PC, but what next?

Will they exchange / canx contract? Nobody there until Tues now......Annoyed with myself really

  • it seems when I am in green phone mode it sees it, but as soon as its orange - file transfer it cant connect and it tells me to plug my phone in via USB

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARgh
  • I've got the same phone and I never use the software that Sony provides.

I remove the memory card from the phone and use a memory card reader. The PC/laptop reads the memory card as a seperate drive/device called 'phone card' and I just drag and drop mp3 files into the Music folder on the memory card.

Then I make playlists with the software on the phone!

If you are using Window media player to rip your cd's make sure they're not WMA (Windows Media Audio) files.

Use Disc 2 Phone software*, there's nowt wrong with it. Download it from the Sony website for Free if you have to. You can either use the supplied data cable or a card reader to transfer music onto your memory card (or phone) using aforementioned software.

    * or as has been previously mentioned, simply drag and drop your MP3's onto the card memory using a card reader, it'll be under 'my computer' and it will be a drive called PHONE CARD. The w880i won't play WMA files though.

    Hope this helps.
