Even without the bonus you can still earn 4% on your HTB ISA money without it being taxed, albeit only £200 pm after the first month, what are you currently doing with your £400 pm savings? You might get a slightly better return with regular savers but without the bonus potential, perhaps the best answer is to do both, i.e. £200 pm into an HTB ISA and the other £200 into a regular saver account....
  • Thank for replying so quickly

I currently save it into my TSB esavings account which has interest rate of 0.2% I believe.

That's what I'm thinking of doing if the rate isn't to different as you never know the bonus may still be there when I'm ready to buy.

    0.2%

TSB Plus pays 5% on up to [STRIKE]£2,500[/STRIKE] 2,000, and gives access to the TSB Monthly Saver.

TSB Monthly Saver pays 5% and takes £250 a month.

Can you not get the TSB Plus account? Or have you maxed them already? If so, there are many other accounts with better rates: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5374614
  • To be honest I'm a bit new when it comes to savings and just opened that account because I already have accounts with TSB

I currently have around £3000.00 saved in the esavings account.

Would you suggest I open an home buyers ISA pay in the maximum about and then move my remaining a savings to a better savings account.

I'm happy to go with a different bank if need be it do you think the TSB account you suggested would be best?

    Thanks for your help :)
  • Hi can anyone urgently help. My partner and I are first time buyers who each opened help to buy isas in December with £1200 then added £200 in Jan and will add £200 on Feb 1st. We intend to close isa on Feb 2nd as are in the final stages of our house purchase however solicitor says that the online government scheme which is administered by UK Asset resolution CS ltd does not yet allow them to register online as Conveyancer let alone have an online portal open to apply for the £400 government bonus! The law society website does indicate that interim measures are in place until 31/3/16 when the online portal commences however my solicitor cannot find any contact numbers/email/or websites for people in our situation who want to apply for the bonus at beginning of February. Any ideas would be appreciated the ukarcsl site for the help to buy isa is sadly out of date saying its registration will start in January. HELP PLEASE

TSB Plus pays 5% on up to £2,500,

£2000, alas! I looked it up on the basis that there might have been a change in the customer's favour....

    http://www.tsb.co.uk/current-accounts/

You can deposit £2000 in the plus account and also open a regular saver.

You can cycle money in and out of the plus account to meet the regular pay in and maintain £2000 in the account.

You could start a help to buy ISA with Halifax

    http://www.halifax.co.uk/isas/cash-isas/help-to-buy-isa/

£1000 to start and SO for £200 from your TSB plus thereafter

Your dates are very demanding but not necessarily unachievable. Point your solicitor at https://www.helptobuyisaadmin.org.uk/conveyancers/the-scheme
