Very odd that another supplier I use (in no way related to Amazon) who normally offer next day delivery if ordered before 5:00pm is currently stating Thursday delivery. And I know that they have not participated in any unusual promotions recently.

I think a lot of the UK delivery network is struggling after the amount of items bought in the last few days.

In terms of Amazon - this will be why there is back logs:

They're currently clearing the backlog of Black Friday deliveries.
  • I understand the whole '£79 is a lot of money line' but when you think about it normal next day delivery from a lot of places can be as high as £7 you only need to order 8 things per year and that's the amount. More than 10 then you are getting value for money as the price per delivery goes down quite rapidly.

Plus you do get the telly from them now also.

Saying that it is poor if theyre not delivering but as others have said they have been busy boys & girls over the last couple of days and theres only so many delivery drivers with vans/trucks that are only so big.

I do fully appreciate that. BUT, they should have had a note on the site to say "We're really sorry - we can't offer next day delivery today." As I said, threads about it on their forum were removed. It comes across as sneaky - if you order regularly, you just order quickly and may not even notice the guaranteed date. It comes across like they were hoping people wouldn't notice.
  • I'm a Prime member, and have yet to witness an item to be delivered on the day it's supposed to be, whether it was next day or not. Got one free month of Prime when I complained once.

I ordered birthday presents for my dad last night (1st Dec), and on both product pages it said they would be delivered on 3rd if I ordered within the next 16 hour or something, which is also his birthday. Today, I got a dispatch email and the email said they would be delivered on the 4th... I hopped on to Amazon Chat and the respresentative said she had spoken to the courier and they would guarantee delivery on the 3rd. *shrugs* Not the end of the world if it does arrive on the 4th (my own fault for leaving it so late to buy him a present), but I found it annoying that the page advertised one date, but once out for delivery it changes, and neither date is the supposed Prime next day delivery.

We'll see when it shows up.
