Just a quick update on the application process. The forms that were posted to me didn't arrive so after a week I collected some from the branch and dropped them back through the letterbox that evening. Needless to say the first set of forms arrived the day after! No correspondence yet but 2x £500 was showing as cash withdrawal a couple of days later and the accounts now appear in our respective online banking. I recall someone asking about getting a card for the account; I understand that opening online does not provide a card but manual applications does. perhaps this is because it is assumed anyone with online banking would transfer funds out that way.0

Why didn't you apply online? What do you need a card for - you got one for the current account you have to have as a pre-req, and an internal transfer takes but a few seconds.0

Hi Archi, as per previous posts, you cannot apply on line and get two separate accounts set up if you have a joint account and want to have one of these each. I didn't want a card; I was feeding back on the process as another person had asked about not being able to choose to have one when they applied online. I mentioned transfers in my post0 -

You are wrong and you are right.
If you have a joint account, don`t log in but apply for a sole, saying you`re not registered for online banking.Later on in the process it asks again if you are registered and you can then put yes.
If you say yes initially, it will ask you to log in and then you can only have a joint account.
When you apply for a sole, saying you`re not registered, then nowhere during the process does it give you a choice about having a card.0 -

Hi 2010, from previous posts, and trying to apply without logging in, I believe I would have still hit a stumbling block online as we do not have any Nationwide accounts in single names and funding from a joint account would result in a joint regular saver. Hence it was easier for us to fill in the application forms which was simple to do. There are various workarounds suggested within this topic of course. I am not sure if I was unclear in my post in which I mentioned the card being available; I was just saying that online applications do not offer a card and the manual application does.0 -
I ended up with two regular savers opened online and a card for one, so not sure what happened there I blip maybe.
I have sent a secure message to close down the regular saver that doesn't have the card attached.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Hi Westie, crikey, it seems as though there are several versions of what might happen then. I suppose we should just be pleased that, however we got there, we have the account we wanted! 😀0 -

Both of us applied by NOT logging in and both of us funded them from our joint account.
We didn`t want yet another card but there was no way to prevent one each being issued the way we applied.
Merry Christmas MrsWenger0 -

We all seem to have got the accounts by an assortment of routes 2010 which I guess is the main thing!
Thanks for the good wishes, you too!0 -
I may well be behind the curve here, but I've just seen that Quidco are offering £35 cashback if you fully switch to Flex Direct (http://www.quidco.com/nationwide-flexdirect-current-account/). No good for me as I won't be switching but perhaps useful for some?0
